hello everyone, ive been reading the forum for a while, but i have never actually posted anything
im a little surprised how many computer science majors there are, im CS also (graduating in may)
anyone ever tried making their own VSTs or anything? i got the VST SDK and compiled the tutorials and stuff, but didnt do much more than that. i need a better feel for the library, and java is my main language (not C++), and i definitely dont have any DSP experience. so if you have any good resources, that would be cool.
my dream job would be to work for a company like native instruments or something. seems like DSP is waaayyy too much math though.
or i could just be a gangster dubstep producer and travel the world.
also, i still suck at producing, so both of these options are pretty far-fetched right now.

I've been slowly working through Will Pirkle (2012) Designing Audio Effect Plug-Ins in C++: With Digital Audio Signal Processing Theory, which I highly recommend. At least check out his free development environment called RackAFX. It makes getting set up much easier.

I wish I dealved more into c++ and visual c.
I did 3rd gen programming; cobol and as400.
Bored the hell out of me.
Only did visual basic and c++ in my final year.
And that was too brief.
I'd already lost interest by then and became a mechanical engineer instead.

Nope, but I definitely want to take a stab at it sometime. Maybe I'll start looking more into it once I get farther along in my CS classes. Combining two things that I enjoy, programming and making music, sure sound like a formula for success.
