Got a pretty nice chompy bass to keep you guys updated with progress. Found a old patch and was alright but i tried a way different approach to my effects

So true, since you can make your own wave shapes in FM8 or something as opposed to massive. That being said massive has so many possibilities as well with all the oscillators and their WTs...idk this stuff is what i LOVE about music. D-jahsta uses operator from ableton, most people say use something like FM8, and i made it in massive. There are so many diverse ways to get certain sounds and everyone has their own version of everything. That is, unless, you're literally trying to copy someone or just using other people's patches. I actually made this vowel wobble by complete accident.

Cool! Like the clean fat sound )
Should change the envelope/perforemer/LFO so it goes up instead of down so its even heavier. "Wahtwhatwhatwah"
How did you make it/what effects? (I know you asked in the pm but it's better to write in the thread, so everyone can see!)

I just looked now at the lfo shapes and couldnt find one going up that well. Ill just stick to the downward saw wave one.
Funny enough this is a actually a preset i found in a pack not so long ago dont kill me for this guys. The original sound in massive wasnt bad but i changed a couple things and put a different lfo. Then after that I add some crazy eqing. Ill list the stages I did to make this sound. If you want i could post the patch and project.
1) Was the patch and basically put a camelphat to add some distortion and make it somewhat louder. After, i did some crazy eqing on the sound. First eq I did it as a kick drum. Cut out low low frequencies, cut out the mids and raised the low(100hz) and highs(5000hz) in two tiny bells. Next I cut out some more mids that had a bad frequency and brought down the low and highs, for some strange reason and was sounding a bit weird.... but it worked! The last eq i rasied some good strong peaks in the analyzer and pretty big peak around mid and high side. After all that, the sound was actually 10x cleaner and better sounding. Try do some creative eqing with basses if you dont think there coming right.
2)Alright next phase! Thank god being able to freeze an ableton track and dragging the midi file over to a new audio track as a pre made audio resample. 10x faster than other resampling technics. Did this every time for every phase and new track. Ok so in this next one i added two different reverbs. The first was wavearts master reverb and it was very small and tight reverb. Very very very little reverb really and then added abletons reverb and sorta did the same but let it echo and decy longer. This brought out some nice high and low harmonics. Makes it really squenchy.
3) Next track with resampled bass from 2). This one i add a simple delay but it differently. I added an effect rack and added two chains but i guess you could do the same in a bus. Inside the chain i hard left one side and hard right the other side. Better effect than one simple delay and thats it. I made the delay around 10ms for each and had dry/wet at 100 and feedback at 37 on both chains. Thats it for that one. Made it have more stereo and metallic sound to it.
4)Next I added a vocoder, abletons isnt that great but it worked pretty good on this sound. I did absolutely nothing in the vocoder, left it default and sounded pretty good. I did try mess around a bit with having more bands but thats all. Took out some harsh sounds and squashed it to be i guess more vocal? Im not sure but it worked! Then i put down a multiband dynamics and squashed down the low end, compressed it a bit inside it. Im not sure whats its actually called but i picked up a tip on a youtube video on making a good sub. Makes it that euhhh wobble sound in the preview. Very low but adds to the sound. Thats it for that part.
5)This is the last one and it has a flanger with no lfo and picked a certain spot that wasnt to over whelming and spacey. After that i put a bifilter and used the comb filter. Messed around with that for a bit to get a nice but not over powered sound, just like i did in the flanger. But the comb isnt really necessary but it added a tiny tiny bit of a metallic sound. Lastly through down a compressor to glue everything together and bring it the sound a bit louder. Thats all for the sound!
Just take everything nice and easy with the processing and do whats sounds good to your ear Everything was stock plugins besides the bifilter but it actually didn't add an crazy wow factor to it.
If you want the project or patch just pm or ask me her. Ill be doing this more often through the months trying to get more professional sound and gnarly sounds also! Keep you guys updated but lets talk more of this stuff in the Alternative bass thread i made awhile ago. Spread the word because there are more than a reece and growl bass now a days. Lets change how we see basses and make some unique sounds and ideas there
Thanks for that (:::
So the end result is all these played together or just the last one?
Oh, and resampling in Logic is just as easy.
1. Press bounce in place
2. there is no 2

Just the last resampled bass.

Ill do what you said and not add too much in one fx chain. I just have a camelphat and a fatter. If you want i could send you the patch for all the help you given me Its pretty nice sound out of massive.
Of course it sounds like horrible distorted modern talking, but if you slice it good and arrange it with other sounds well it'll sound good.

Think I am getting the hang of this, the comb filter really made a huge difference! But there's something missing...
My first two attempts. (lo frequencies are a bit messy, will fix this later but thats not the important part.)
What should I change? Soundcloud
Btw, thanks op, this thread is awesome, I always wondered how d-jahsta made his sounds.
Both of these are awesome! Want to share anything?

There's a metallic wobble in this song somewhere around 2:00, any way I can replicate it

Probably read some of the stuff i posted before on this thread but it would be something like draw out automation or an evelope to get that wobble sound. Get something that has same timing as that ^ then go to carefully eq out the very very mids out slightly, nothing below 500hz and then bounce out that clip. I suggest using detuned squares with LOTS of unision and when you bounce out the clip in the first sample. Add some slight distortion, either on the whole sound or just some low mid or high mids and go to eq again to bring out some freqs you like. Bounce it out again and this wear the magic happens, copy the same automation or envelope thingy to a reverb or delay( Very small room ms for both) Adjust for your taste with how bright or tangy it sounds and then go to automate the dry/wet and maybe some of the room size or other knob. This will get a very harsh sound so add this effect in little increments when resampling over and over.
Bounce out the clip again and do the samething, eq out some bad freq which are going to happen and maybe add a comb filter and find a nice sweet spot and automate something like that.
Oh also trying something in fm to get a nice wave with lots of harmonics that are rich and bright sounding. Try adding a pitch bend that only covers like 5 tones, i kinda hear like its an arcade sound
Last thing is when doing this with reverb, delay, comb and whatever effect. Is always do it in small parts, or else your sound will go to the shitter and constantly eq out to bright sounding peaks, but should know this stuff already
Good luck!
Ill try mess around with something in fm8 this weekend and go to resample that with some new effects and techniques! Ill post on here if i remember

Your tips on the bass was a good birthday present for me How's this?
Well happy birthday man!! How old are you turning by the way?
Glad i could help with something, and honestly even with the knowledge of on how to make this kinda stuff when i transfer these ideas to my daw i never get anything good but apparently when other people use my ideas. It works wonders for them!
Ill make another better sought this weekend if i have the time. Great clip also

I turned 25 as of 10:30 P.M, thank you. Anyway I might try to make more metallic sounds, I really like the "surround" feel it has, but the drums really clump it together so it loses that nice texture to it, so I would recommend adding pauses at times to let the delay & reverb decay breath.
