Well, I'm 31 and despite having an income that'd probably bring tears to your eyes, I'm currently having to build up my own credit rating due to having been a bit of a dick 10 years ago and allowing myself to ignore it for too long.

But don't listen to advice from people that've been there and turned themselves around or anything. Carry on...

Meh, it wasn't a boast tbh... I was trying to work out how you type "I earn what I consider to be fuckloads of money, but still can't get a mortgage because I spent more money than I had on cars when I was 21" without mentioning salary.

If I hadn't utterly lucked out and got this job, I'd never have got out of debt. I'm just trying to encourage Agent not to make the same mistake - most people won't get this lucky.

What cars did you have?

(not meaning that in a "how much money did you spend" way but actually what you were into)

My main car was a Celica 190 (new shape) which my mate and I spent about 3 years mucking about with and tuning over weekends (no, there's not enough to do in Weston-Super-Mare  )... I dread to think how much got spent on it in total, tbh, but as a hobby, I'd recommend it to anyone tbh (I still love cars). If I did it again I'd just NEVER trust myself to "get those wheels on credit now and pay them off over the next few months."

I found photos of it the other day on an old hard disc and made myself all sad.

We both went in on an old Mini too; cost us £50 each to rescue from being scrapped and ended up in near-show condition with all the John Cooper tuning bits. It's still sitting in my mate's Dad's workshop looking PENG.

Considering I can't justify having a car in London, I spent an inordinate amount of time on AutoTrader.

Ask for advise but just pick the answers that you want to hear rather than listening to the people that have experience with not paying loans....they must just be old and boring :W:

have you attempted to supplement your income through blending in any way? surely there's got to be opportunities there in this day and age
