he's getting old now tho so his cars are getting toned down and going for the more executive look. he had a 80s 911 turbo convertible when i was like 6 years old and it used to make me cry when he put his foot down the engine was so loud in the back.now he's all like 'son i am economy drive now'

Ouch that's douchy. Took my breath away for a moment.

Maybe with the top up, but it would still reach z8 levels.

I'm getting some 8 > 12 year old ting.
Most auctions here are cars that have been repossessed or impounded, so the years vary.

I bought a van at auction about six years ago, it came with a 24 hour warranty, turns out the alternator didn't even work so the battery ran out just after the warranty ran out and I got screwed, fuck safeway auctions NZ.

@magma, where do you see these cheap mx5 parts? down here they are getting very expensive.

In the UK (and a lot of western europe) the MX5 is a very popular car, plus Mazda is one of the big car manufacturers here, so there's parts everywhere.

The cars by themselves aren't rare in NZ, Mazdas are veeeery popular here, but trying to track down a spare mx5 motor and gearbox (I am) is hard, and generally prices are going up for other parts everywhere (e.g. hardtops), I think it may have something to do with the growing popularity of them being good weekend track cars.

Definitely a good choice of car though.

Yeah I'm hype!

Yeah I noticed the hardtops are pretty expensive. But a quick search on uk ebay and there's lots of gearboxes for about 250 or less. Dunno the quality obviously. you fitting it yourself?

Are they called miatas in NZ like the US?

Yeah I'll be fitting it with help from some friends but I'm looking to fit the engine into an old Mazda ute I've had for years, like a carburettor to EFI motor swap, I'm a big car fan myself :)

We have mostly mx5s, miatas are rare but I have seen them, most of both are imports anyway.
