If I was gonna make an album though I defo wouldnt make a dance music album lol

I dont get how people dont listen to full albums though and have one tune from an artist or listen on shuffle, I hate listening on shuffle, listening to mixes is fine cos I spose it still has the same vibe. If Im listening to full tracks though I either listen through the full album/EP or atleast listen to a few of the same artists tunes in a row. It used to piss me off when Id be over my mates or in his car, he would literally get half way through the tune and change it, and just keep doing that! I dont get how you cant listen to a full tune!

How much does he make off merch?

WHY even bother being on a label if they don't cover your mastering costs, promotion, don't provide a booking agent, do not cover sampling fees (50%! Are you kidding me!), and simply skim half of your Beatport earnings?

The money for these things ALWAYS come from the sales of your record. Regardless whether it's paid up front, as an advance, or as part of the profit split. No labels just pay for these things.

A lot of people misunderstand the point of labels, they're there to promote your release. To give artists of a similar sound or approach a promotional push, further than what the artist can do on their own. As you move higher up the scale the label will have more money to throw around for the costs of production, but this always comes out of the sales of the eventual product and then, after costs are accounted for, is there a profit split with the artist.
