I reckon he's not that different from someone like Puyol, Dessailly or Hierro.
People tend to forget that that part of the defence is also a duo.
Brazilian teams have always had one offensive cb and a more controlling one.

The duo of Thiago Silva who isn't that risky in his style and this guy whos capable of Alonso like long passes, running for a full 90 mins, being dangerous on setpieces both on and off the ball- has ridiculous potential imo.

They aren't living up to it yet though.

Yeah innit. Mate had a few Spanish defenders getting about 15 points between them. Crosses into the box gets you points, and staying ont he pitch for 90 minutes gets you three, which is bullshit. Basically means anyone can just hoof it into the box, thats classed as a cross and they get points.
