I've been trying to quit for a little over a month but find it VERY hard to concentrate in the studio without reaching for a
butt.

its costing me alot less now thou

Yeah not to mention that the smoke goes directly into your computer fan and on to your heat sink. Use to have to buy a new heat sink every year because it was so caked with shit and then the yellow monitors... ok I mentioned it. Glad I don't do that shit anymore.

I dont smoke smokes either.
But I smoke hella chron. I also prefer to smoke up after a few hours of composing a tune, which is hard to do when your a stoner. Otherwise I slay a few j-birds and stare at a screen, or tweak reverbs and delays for way too long.

too true. It is nice to get blazed when coming up with riffs and melodies n shit though! Just can't get anything else done if I haven't been working for a couples hours already.

My studio used to be a chimney...
...but then I quit, and moved across the ocean. It took a long while to get used to not smoking (or even taking smoke breaks - I went cold turkey). For a long, long time I missed everything about smoking... now, I think the only thing I still miss is having that square while listening to the final mixdown, before nodding in approval and sending it to the label.
I don't miss what it does to gear... If you look at the side by side of my computer that was in that studio vs the computer than I got after I moved, it is ridiculous. Even after several cleans, the smoked out computer still is filthy.

you know i think the thing about smokin in the studio is that you then make that room smell of smoke, which in turn makes you want to smoke. So imo its best to do it outside or in a room you dont often go in (that is if you want to cut down/stop)

I can't think of the amount of times I've been sitting at the comp with a ciggy hanging out of my mouth, with one shoe on, telling myself "I'ma go smoke once I lay this down/tweak this/etc". Sometimes that would go on for 2 hrs...then I try n pull the ciggy out of my mouth I rip off like a quarter of the skin off my bottomlip....
damn shame
but yeah I'd say I cut down more by smoking outside
