I got a Tool for you buddy!!auralassassin wrote:Ok, So it's totally out of character for me to download copyrighted, pirated, leaked, or otherwise illegal copies of music that isn't mine...
With that in mind, I am sorry to say that I was weak, and have downloaded and listened to (about 600 times now, actually!)
I was going to buy this album anyway, but now I'm buying one for every person I know. This shit comes out the day before my birthday. I have never been so excited for an album to drop in my life.
DANNY--FUCKING--CAREY!!!
Ahh... God bless those fucking guys!!!

I'm not really a metal fan anymore, outgrew it by the late 80's, but I'mAlex bk-bk wrote:i worry that metal fans like dubstep, kind of represents all the elements of dubstep i like least
going to see Slayer in July for the first time in about 18 years.
I'm going to see David Gilmour(not metal) of Pink Floyd tomorrow bust out some old classics.
Varied tastes and pasts can only make the music we love now(Dubstep) better and not allow it to get stale if only we don't allow bullshit politics to get in the way!!
There 's room for all here!!!!

yeah totally mate im all for diversity and varied backgrounds and generally mixing it up, especially its interesting that many of us have got here through different paths. just find it depressing that people who still likes stuff like tool with their technical wankery and pretentious 'dark' schtick can also get into dubstep. my number one concern for this music is that a lot of new people might get into it from a techy headphonesy sort of angle and miss the whole point of getting down to huge soundsystems and having a great time, si mi. sorry if it sounds a bit rude of me to start dictating how people should and shouldnt enjoy dubstep but fuckit, i really dont want it to become the new IDM, or worse the new nu-metal

Tool aren't Nu-Metal... they are progressive rock.Alex bk-bk wrote:yeah totally mate im all for diversity and varied backgrounds and generally mixing it up, especially its interesting that many of us have got here through different paths. just find it depressing that people who still likes stuff like tool with their technical wankery and pretentious 'dark' schtick can also get into dubstep. my number one concern for this music is that a lot of new people might get into it from a techy headphonesy sort of angle and miss the whole point of getting down to huge soundsystems and having a great time, si mi. sorry if it sounds a bit rude of me to start dictating how people should and shouldnt enjoy dubstep but fuckit, i really dont want it to become the new IDM, or worse the new nu-metal
And Dubstep will become what it becomes--you have less than no right to dictate how people come to, or proceed with dubstep.
Who fucking cares if I like Tool? I was posting this for whomever wanted to read it--if noone wants to read it, they should BYPASS it, not sit and talk shit on it.
It's a sure sign of what a fucking wanker someone is, personally. I'm all about dubstep on a big system--and my OTHER tastes have nothing to do with my love for Dubstep. YOU are the kind of wanker that doesn't need to be involved, dude--so fucking pompous that you think that someone who likes Tool would RUIN Dubstep...
gimme a break, thats shit and you know it.
Dubstep makes of like a FRACTION of 1% of my musical tastes... we're talking like less than 1% of the songs I like are DUBSTEP... and it's still my favorite music, ATM... it's not the ONLY thing in the world, either. I still like other music, and it's disturbing that you think you can orchestrate this genre like it is a living and breathing symphony. It's fucking music...
as time goes on, there will be darker dubstep and there will be lighter dubstep... fucks sake, it's happening already--listen to the stuff that Scuba is making, 8-Bit and Lucky Strike are making... some of it is DARK as fuck... gritty basslines, but still sonically sound.
You think because it is DARK that it won't bang on a system? You think that if I make some uplifting dubstep that it won't bang equally as hard?
Your logic is all messed up, man.
Tool are very technical, very math oriented, heavy progressive rock... and they are more forward thinking than any band out right now...
I also like Nine Inch Nails--you got a problem with them?
What about my love for Eric Clapton and BB King?
And Stevie Ray Vaughn? What about Phil Collins and Genesis?
What about Nirvana, Alice in Chains?
What about Rage Against The Machine?
What about Bob Marley?
I could go on for days and days and days... my tastes are so varied--and you know what that means?
That means that I have an open mind, and can accept variations in beat structure, and I can break down not just WHAT I like--but WHY I like it.
You need MORE people with varied tastes... even if those include shit that you don't like.

auralassassin wrote:I said, out of character, you dipshit.
It's not like me to download something like that... but I've also said that I don't give a damn about a major label losing money... not a justification, I know--but still.
if you don't like something, bypass it.
and Jubscarz, hope and pray that we never meet one day dude... because I'm going to knock you the fuck out.
auralassassin wrote:I grasp irony fine. That's why I gave the warning that this was OUT OF CHARACTER for me--but I know that you lot can't read. I wasn't aware that the only posts allowed to be made on this site were about DUBSTEP. Hell, I guess we had better go and talk shit to the people who posted about Jazz... and I should take my downtempo mix off the site.Jubscarz wrote:Wow, another American that cant grasp the concept of irony.
I'm just a little tired of your flippant remarks every time I post. Quit being such an ignorant fucking prick and everything will be fine. The IRONY is going to be that the person you talked to like an asshole is going to make you look like an asshole when he knocks you the fuck out.
You are a wasteman. Go and play Hide and Go Fuck Yourself.
not a good look at all.

The thread seems to have changed topic but for my 2 cents im sure I remember listening to dubstep warz and distance commented that he was very much inlfuenced by korn in a few of his productions (empire seems to go with that theory)so i dont think its a bad thing for people to have a bit of variety after all its the spice of life.
I also cant see dubstep turning into IDM or nu metal as these genres already exist that would be impossible for one genre to regress on itself into another genre that exists already or have i just confused myself?
