If it's a choice between wobble or sub, sub wins every single time

Still, can't blame DJs for playing it and producers for making it, because people love it. I wonder if for some people its provides the energy/speed that they don't find in beats that are slower than dnb (people complain about dubstep being 'too slow' etc.)? Only thing about that is you get tunes so aggressive that you're going to have a hard time dropping anything deeper alongside them without hyped up crowd members screw facing you...

I think the main danger with it is that its so effective and so accessible a stylistic signature of the genre that its in danger of becoming something that is too readily expected.
Corpsey talks sense shocker!

Agreed.
Drums are a very important factor of any music. In fact the drums and bass are the backbone of the tune.Without them theres no groove.
I love the sound of jungle theres a nice balance between the drums and bass neither being too overpowering.

Yeah, this, I've heard it done a few times and just ended up bored and not dancing.

If that's the way things go then that's the way things go, but personally I'll be somewhere else while it's happening.

but it isn't the best thing to happen to dubstep, just the easiest most obvious way to move a crowd, esp if they're new to the sound and would find more minimalistic sounds harder to get into.

Dubstep is like a trifle....u can add more jelly (wobble)Custard (drums) Bassline (Sponge)synths (Cream topping) Alcohol (Atmosphere)Fruits/Nuts/toppings (effects)
Now everybody likes trifle for a certain reason, and u can add and take or add more stuff, like a jelly heavily ladden one.
But The key is that u cant always make a strawberry one. and u will eventually to perfect it... get every topping of the same quality 8)
otherwise its just jelly with the other stuff thrown on top and below.
Drums: use many different kits, echo effects etc
Wobble: sometimes is can be subtle, but u can heavy up the synths.
Atmosphere: limitless, u can add anything, just as long as it dont crowd the tune.
Bassline: a good heavy basseline, give a tune some body, and also when u do a massive drop and come back down, the impact is massive.
Synths: a good powerful synth is important as its give a slow song some speed, and technologic power :)
Effects: glitches and warps, give dubstep IMO its more important stand out thing. massive drum echo. wooom wooom. (this is why technically i love dubstep like frijji milkshake)

Word
I felt this way at the recent Exodus.Certain peoples sets where just pure wobble. It's all good for a couple of tunes but it gets very boring and completely loses its impact.
Give me some deep subs and screwed percussion any day.Leave the wobble to clownstep.Im hoping it's just a phase that producers will get bored of very quickly.
