 Good one
prove otherwise.
Cant prove a negative but.... and your either trolling or playing some kind of devils advocate(lol)

Bible is anti Gay, I don't think there is anything wrong with being Gay. Neither do most of the people i know, if we are all using the bible then how come we have such different morals from it?. In fact the biggest problem most people have with God botherers is that the ethics in the Bible is out of touch with modern life. The idea that without the bible saying so i would go next door and rape my neighbors food and eat his wife is jokes. Confusing morality with control too the bible does not contain morality its about control through fear in a time where morality was pretty hazy so they used another tactic.

The Catholic church rebrand atm is pretty peng tho, might start going to Mass
Its not just anti-gay though and not all christians are homophobes just like Im not a hundred percent sold on the idea, but it says: thou shall not kill, before the bible it was: you can kill but Im gonna kill you back or maybe your brother or a cousin. eye for an eye less morally upstanding more existentially inconvenienced. considering if you kill in society (today) you go to prison and not get the chance to be killed by the person wronged. it seems that the moral enforced by the state is of christian values, is it not?
and you adhering to this, you otherwise murdersome so and so you, is bound by christian ethics, no?

2 Kings 2:23-25 is the one

Then he went up from there to Bethel; and as he was going up by the way, young lads came out from the city and mocked him and said to him, “Go up, you baldhead; go up, you baldhead!” When he looked behind him and saw them, he cursed them in the name of the LORD. Then two female bears came out of the woods and tore up forty-two lads of their number.

Nope. I said eye for an eye, right?
Your american, yeh? In god we trust. I'm not saying the bible was the blueprint for society..
Just that the laws of western countries are heavily influenced by christian morality.
even if you keep the law out of it, neither you or your parents created there moral values, maybe adapted them. go back a few generations more and they were all in the churches.
who do you think taught you smoke tree's, OD'S, Ice cubes and DOC's?

It's like you think not hitting an aligator cos itll bite you is moral. (eye for an eye/repercussion)
not doing so cos your god, and your conscience (what god said) is.

why is it then that we can see both humans and animals (particularly social ones), who have no concept of god, partaking in non-reciprocity motivated behavior, eg altruism?

its almost like moral behavior is a trait naturally selected for because it improves group cohesion and survival... wild

Japanese, Buddhists, and confucsists don't believe in a standard God but they are pretty moral.

And Buddhism predates Judaism/Christianity

Yeah big up Jesus for dying for our sins and netting us a public holiday in the process.

Also, hot cross buns.

Technically Judaism is older than Buddhism; unless you mean Rabbinic Judaism, that's about as old as Islam.

So first of all what is it you're not 100% sold on? Being gay? Give it a try you might like it.

And obviously not all Christians are homophobes but Christianity does teach that it's "wrong" to be gay which is not very ethical in my eyes.

The idea of not killing people did not originate with the bible, As people have mentioned already there are several religions/philosophies that teach the same that are far older than Christianity.

"considering if you kill in society (today) you go to prison and not get the chance to be killed by the person wronged" - well they're dead aren't they? you killed them so it would be pretty hard for them to kill you back.

Also "an eye for an eye" is a (stupid) biblical teaching so if the state was truly implementing christian values they wouldn't lock you up, they'd kill you (I am aware that America still does this - thankfully i'm English)

I'm from a family of at least 3 generations of Atheists and none of us have ever killed anyone - not because of any religious beliefs but because we aren't all full of murderous rage which you seem to believe is the human default setting.

Obviously Christianity has played a role in shaping the ethical values of our countries in the past but it actually isn't all that relevant now, we have ethical values based on just that - ethics. For instance gay marriage is legal in England now and we have anti-discrimination laws to protect gay people. That ain't no Christianity.
