I think it's just cause he had a difference of opinion, I thought Thoughtbombing was ok (but I'm a contrary fucker like that)
I don't know, King Hater was in agreement with me on current sounds, and that's such a rarity he's ok in my book
Hmm....

i really don't see what he did to deserve getting banned unless it was stuff said in behind the scenes and in PMs etc. so he disagreed with people and made his point of view known? isn't that the point of a discussion forum? actually discussing things instead of everyone agreeing that every dubstep tune ever made is amazing
first off, we don't discuss details about specific banning for the numerous privacy/libel issues that it puts us into, namely the internet being permanent now.
secondly, a person that's been banned several times previously will be continually banned.
thirdly , permanent banning is decided by a majority vote of ALL the moderators. it's an unfortunate final step and we don't like doing it but we always have to consider the overall community vibes over an individual or a group of individuals.

if you have issues with the moderation of this forum, please put your thoughts into any of the mods or admins, and we'll consider them.
contrary to what some of you think, we're not some power thirsty group of individuals. we work on this forum out of the love of the music and the community that supports it. thats it. thats always been it. since day one.
happy holidays!

See what happens when you do though - some people find it difficult to tolerate others opinions and take any negativity as a personal attack, like dubstep was an actual being rather than a genre. I think that any scene at this stage is going to have plenty of tunes that aren't groundbreaking or particularly interesting and to think otherwise either indicates a love for the music that I don't share or is simply delusional.badger wrote:i really don't see what he did to deserve getting banned unless it was stuff said in behind the scenes and in PMs etc. so he disagreed with people and made his point of view known? isn't that the point of a discussion forum? actually discussing things instead of everyone agreeing that every dubstep tune ever made is amazing
Mind you, I don't have as much of a vested interest as some people, so I can see why they get defensive.

It's a solid-gold ass-patting forum if ever there was one. God forbid if a tune is uttered to be even slightly less mind-shatteringly sick than the mob is claiming.Shonky wrote:See what happens when you do though - some people find it difficult to tolerate others opinions and take any negativity as a personal attack, like dubstep was an actual being rather than a genre. cmon now, i really doubt anyone is getting banned for naysaying. plenty of people voice their contrary opinions on a daily basis, and they're still alive and kicking with avatars.
honestly this is one of the most enjoyable forums i've ever seen, and there have to be rules. anyone that wants to participate must recognize this, and i am certain that violators receive a heads up before any action is taken.
the mods here seem more than reasonable. i see plenty of violations to the literal rules that do not result in bannings.
the use of the term 'community vibes' may seem a bit unsettling but for the most part i agree. please voice your opinions, but you dont need to be a dick about it.
now i dont know why this guy got banned. his posts did seem a bit abrasive at times but nothing out of line. excuse the hearsay, but a previous thread on this subject mentioned that he may have been sharing links to unreleased material. this seems more likely a cause than not agreeing with the current state of dubstep...
anyways, if the man was banned without reason, hes had more than enough chances to air these grievances. he also seems to have people willing to speak on his behalf here, but they have never said the ban was unjust.
so lets leave out the antifascist rhetoric until more facts are in.
flame on

No-one is saying he got banned cause he disagreed with the mobs views, and since having different opinions to others isn't listed as banable offense in the forum rules I doubt thats the case.
Obviously I can't say whether or not I agree with their decision because we never find out the reasons behind bans. But why would someone spend effort pushing Dubstep, i.e. moderating this forum is probably mostly not that fun and quite time consuming, only to abuse the responsibility they've put upon themselves by mindlessly cutting off people with different views, which obviously is a good thing as it fosters progression/discussion.
Don't get me wrong if it was discovered that the mods were picking of dissidents a la Stalin I'd be be the first with flaming torch and pitchfork in hand marching for blood.
oh wait shit, I take it all back.... I just found these doctored photos of Seckle and King Hater...

I met Nomorecomastep and he seemed like an alright guy.
BAN EVERYONE.

Here goes.
As far as I have witnessed on this forum, people are happy to engage in debate about dubstep and people are free to express opinions against the majority and have done so. Nobody gets flamed for it as long as it is in good humour.
However, if someone makes a thread entitled 'MC X is a bit rubbish - what do you think?' or 'X's new beat is waste' - this tends to be frowned upon by people on here because it isn't trying to stimulate discussion, but rather create a stir.
There are different ways to express opinions. I think it is more about tact than anything else.
Personally, I don't post in a thread about a tune I don't happen to like. This is because I don't think it would be constructive to be negative about a tune I have made up my mind about already. Nobody is going to convince me a tune I don't like is good on a forum, so I choose not to get involved. I imagine many of the thousands of other users are the same.
Regarding the banning thing, from what I have seen, people have only got banned when they were being needlessly offensive and personal. This seems to me to be fair enough.
And a point well made sir, though slightly ghostly now.Jennifer wrote:yes.Contakt wrote:XOR - to clarify, I am no longer joking.
