Dubstep forum uber alles.Parson wrote:here at dubstep forum we only like people who know how to fall in line and behave

See what happens when you do though - some people find it difficult to tolerate others opinions and take any negativity as a personal attack, like dubstep was an actual being rather than a genre. I think that any scene at this stage is going to have plenty of tunes that aren't groundbreaking or particularly interesting and to think otherwise either indicates a love for the music that I don't share or is simply delusional.badger wrote:i really don't see what he did to deserve getting banned unless it was stuff said in behind the scenes and in PMs etc. so he disagreed with people and made his point of view known? isn't that the point of a discussion forum? actually discussing things instead of everyone agreeing that every dubstep tune ever made is amazing
It's a solid-gold ass-patting forum if ever there was one. God forbid if a tune is uttered to be even slightly less mind-shatteringly sick than the mob is claiming.Shonky wrote:See what happens when you do though - some people find it difficult to tolerate others opinions and take any negativity as a personal attack, like dubstep was an actual being rather than a genre. Mind you, I don't have as much of a vested interest as some people, so I can see why they get defensive.

The fable of the Emperor's New Clothes is boss in these parts for sure.
Here goes.
As far as I have witnessed on this forum, people are happy to engage in debate about dubstep and people are free to express opinions against the majority and have done so. Nobody gets flamed for it as long as it is in good humour.
However, if someone makes a thread entitled 'MC X is a bit rubbish - what do you think?' or 'X's new beat is waste' - this tends to be frowned upon by people on here because it isn't trying to stimulate discussion, but rather create a stir.
There are different ways to express opinions. I think it is more about tact than anything else.
Personally, I don't post in a thread about a tune I don't happen to like. This is because I don't think it would be constructive to be negative about a tune I have made up my mind about already. Nobody is going to convince me a tune I don't like is good on a forum, so I choose not to get involved. I imagine many of the thousands of other users are the same.
Regarding the banning thing, from what I have seen, people have only got banned when they were being needlessly offensive and personal. This seems to me to be fair enough.
And a point well made sir, though slightly ghostly now.Jennifer wrote:yes.Contakt wrote:XOR - to clarify, I am no longer joking.
