these are quite different from the tunes that we're talking 'bout:]

ninja tunes staff is much more instrumental, experimental hip hop, flavored with soul and jazz... but admitt they are really good! used to be one of my fav. labels...

ill be having a nice read of this thread tomorrow :).
Always loved house; a lot of French house and filter house (tomas bangalter and roule lot) then more recently a lot of electro house and fidget but alot of people frown on these it seems. Recently, I've been feeling a lot of deep and soul house stuff, plus the stuff with a soca and or afrobeat feel- i guess alot of the older US stuff being played by UK house and funky DJs of the moment.

One thing I can't recommend enough is DJ Gregory's new album/mix on Defected- Faya Combo. Its brand new so should be easy to locate, and IMO its well worth it (and I usually hate the things which Defected put out, tho like the sound away from the commercial that they are pushing with things like this).
I'm not a fan of everything on this mix, but I really dig DJ Gregory's productions (check "Traffic" and "You Moove"- production on these is nice and progressive and varied). Can anyone recommend me some more stuff like this if you are a househead. Im a young, slow learner :)

LOL @ DJ Funk's Booty House. I don't know any history about him or his musical groundings, but I saw him early last year with surkin and other electro acts (he does a lot of stuff with edbanger now?) and i think he spent the whole set (when he was not mixing) thrusting furiously behind the decks with his shirt off- legend.
"bounce that ass on the floor, hydraulics pump it low..etc."

but yea like someone else said, I can't really take his music less its in the club and you're surrounded by hot honies bootybouncing...and how often does that happen in UK clubs.

yea i like all the fidget stuff..used to be into it a lot...i got just about everything that Dubsided and Counterfeet have done (THE 2 Big Labels in that department)- but its not a big enough genre on its own and is always mixed up with things like electro, and even speed garage and baltimore club due to Sinden and Count of Monte Cristal's (Herve) side project work- this is why it gets a bit annoying. I like the pure stuff- if you are able to cop a mix done by Dave Taylor (Switch) called Long Live Dave Taylor, get it. I'll try upload it sometime if anyone is interested.
Jesse Rose- Body Language 3 is also a good mix on this front.

funny story- at Get Familiar (switch and sinden fabric bi-monthly night) early on last year, Switch got so so drunk that they chucked him out of the club. He was lying on the floor of the DJ booth in room 1. What was even funnier though was when he came to play and he was just scraping needles across his records, and could hardly control himself but all the "hip" kids thought it was part of the act, despite the fact he played the same song about 5 times at one stage, and had a serious case of "jumpy needle"

also @ control, thanks i will check that track out. Not heard it. And yea trax on da rocks and all those old releases- together, music sounds better with you, and one of my favourites, spinal scratch :)

yea thts not a bad remix. I prefer the pure instrumental stuff on that front though- the remixes, by Speakerjunk, Solid Groove all of that lot get a bit boring and similar, jus using vocal snippets over and over (Hot chip remix of Switch) and over again to no real building effect.

Check the above mix, it is all classic acid/jack tracks from the day. It's called "312 Acid". Pure jack, no vampire. Chicago doin' it, roots style.
