i take your point, people need to hear about these things so that hopefully they won't ever happen again. that's certainly what they trying to do with the holocaust, making sure people never forget so that it'll never happen again. but even if this happens in the western world then much of the world still won't have learnt from it. and what seems to happen in the world is that violence begets violence. say, in country x, one group that's in power starts persecuting another, then a rival group gets in power and instead of making things better it does the exact same thing to that group that did it to them. it's a horrible cycle that i see far too often i my job. i read a document at work about war crimes and the list of countries involved in all sorts of war crimes was horrifyingly extensive.

somehow completely lost my point there, what i was going to say is this:
a lot of these things are actually done with education in mind rather than just wiping out human life. the methods are skewed as fuck but they are at least they're trying to learn things rather than just cause harm

but its not impossible to evolve out of this - i don't believe in a utopia, theres allways problems, but i also dont think people are naturally stupid its a condition and the best chance for people to fight less is critical thinking being taught - an instinct to look at evidence and update the software in your brain - some people have this naturally

that's all very nice in theory, but unless we can start with a clean slate and have no grudges then it's in most people's human nature to want to get one over on people who have wronged them. yes with education people can learn what they're doing is wrong, but some people simply don't care. and that's assuming that it's even possible to educate them, or that if it was possible, they would listen... not to mention that some people are naturally just stnuc - you even see this in the animal world, it's as natural as drinking water. god i've just depressed myself silly. i'm going to bed :|

but look at race relations - still bad in some ways but not as bad as they used to be surley? we've got to look beyond our '80 year' life period.
