Hey Dusty - this vote is for the finalists. There are just too many to expect a standout winner this round.Dusty wrote:Jesus, its a close competition at the moment. Some bloody massive designs in there - severe skills on show lads.
If it ends up a tie maybe incorporate elements of both?
I agree with this intirely. Even though the selection is all good, you have to put it in context with other labels. There does seem to be an inclination to go for the most generic (with all due respect to the artisth) design. For what it's worth i think 20 stands out as the most memerable and will stand the test of time. It will also look good next to other records.genfu wrote:Although most of these are executed extremely well, and i'm not trying to be overly critical to anyone who put the effort in to design these, my personal opinion is that making the P.I. into a little shapey thing is abit cliched. I just think if you put a p.i. shapey logo thing on there it's gonna look like every other mainstream house and drum and bass release. Something more grungey and lo-fi would be much cooler. 31 comes closest to this in my opinion, but i'm not sure the framing would work quite right on a round shaped label, because the dial is round itself.
Big up to the skating massive. Do you remember the old school vids they used to do like "Ban this" and "Public Domain" ? Showin my age a little bit. Dog town and the Zboys.tehmaz wrote:Fantastic work, digging it. 17 reminds me of skateboard pioneers http://powell-peralta.com/

No worries Citizen - I'm bumping this sumbitch every six hoursCitizen wrote:Hey Guys, perhaps we should make this one a sticky thread, so it doesn't fall down the page.
I'm biased here, but actually as a designer myself I find the most generic designs are usually the easiest to work with- as they are the most versatile.metalboxproducts wrote:I agree with this intirely.
