trg - 2562 - martyn = wholestep
or

trg - 2562 = martyn + wholestep

or

martyn = trg - 2562 - wholestep

I thought half step was anything which leads you to nod at 70 rather than 140. Tunes which have that "boom bap" hip hop sound. No matter now many snares or pig farts there are.

Nothing against it in general, just seems alot of the boring tunes are 70bpm. IMO.

EDIT

Ive just realised some people "hear" tunes differently, so maybe its one of them terms.

These guys are really pushing the envelope and taking sound and style further, which is kinda rare nowadays.. not just recycling but creating new and interesting soundscapes...

btw, as far as I`m concern, I don`t care is it half- or fullstep as long as it`s something fresh & innovating and basically just gives good vibes!

UGH! I`ve spoken

UFO over easy wrote: I don't want to end up sounding like a broken record but this is what people miss when they oversimplify things and try to pinpoint specifically in sonic terms why it is that they're not feeling the music anymore. Certain people go on about the lack of rhythmic energy and end up evangelising two-step - but that's not the solution, it's not as simple as that, because going too far in that direction would be just as boring and mistaken as the other way round. It leads to people dismissing anything with a certain beat pattern, or a certain bass sound, rather than actually listening. It's lazy! "Not enough snares" is simply not good enough as a replacement for trying to figure out what you really like about music.
Hmm..I think if people have listened to it then they've made a decision based on their tastes. Personally, I've listened to so much music over the years (and god knows I've had a lot of them) that I can figure out what I'm into and what I'm not and having somebody explain to me why they think it's good doesn't mean that I'll agree with them.

If I don't feel it, I don't like it, but I think you're right that people with no rhythmic ingenuity whatsoever have given it a very bad name.

Oh and yes TRG, Martyn and 2562 - good work fellas :D
Hmm....

diversity of dubstep all about it :!: fuck all these rules on what's perceived to be cool or not mix it all up halfstep,bangers,2step,dubby,nasty,chill... lets not fall in the same trap so many other styles have and narrow down dubstep into a boring rinsed out formula with no room ta move ,

TRG, Martyn and 2562 pushing bounderies in there own way :U: :Q:

Really didn't plan on starting an argument about 2-step vs half or that, just showing some appreciation some artists pushing things forward! I could care less about 2step, half step, 4/5 step... It's all good to me! As long as it sound good, I'll dig it!
Just think these guys are doing something pretty fresh and exciting... Shouts to Perverlist and Ramadanman as well! Really digging what I'm hearing from them...

To whoever asked about the mp3s, I get most of my stuff from boomkat.com and bleep.com

clearly not your fault...lately seems you could start a thread about how to plant a tree and it would turn into a discussion on the topic..
