there is one exception to this rule - and, appropriately, it's a czech liquor, kind of cinnamon-y (apple and cinnamon anyone?!).. the only problem is i've forgotten its name. it comes in a blue and yellow bottle, and it's strong stuff. anyone help me out?
this?

Rooting for Austria purely because they're massive underdogs. I reckon France will win it tho. My tip to do better than expected is Romania, because they sleep in coffins and turn into bats at night (probably)

Getting quite hype about the games this evening...Netherlands-Italy could be a cracker.
I drew Greece in the work sweep-stake tho. Be surprised if they won it again.

So far this tournament, I've discovered that:
Betting = Excitement about matches that I usually wouldn't bother watching.

well the tournament itself certainly hasnt generated any thats for sure. standard of football so far has been poor, germany played well, but i see better footy played in my local park on sundays
and what makes it worse still? players are constantly throwing themselves on the floor with little or no contact from an opposition player. it really is disgusting.
and what makes it even worse than that? the bigwigs and fat cats who run the game have aloud it to continue for so long when just a little bit of thought and action could totally eradicate it from the game altogether.
for example, a player dives for two reasons, to win free kicks/penalties and also to get players booked/sent off. fifa, uefa all the governing bodies of our so called "beautiful game" have to act now.
if a referee/linesman misses a player blatantly cheating which lets face happens in every game over and over, then the governing bodies must step in and give that player serious bans.
ban the fucker for a whole season, see if he does it again when he comes back.
its not my intention to piss on everyones euro 2008 fire with this post, but i am becoming more and more disillusioned with every game i see.
football now IS a joke and these cheats are free to just continue doing it on global tv and no-does anything about it, it sucks

I haven't thought the football's been
that bad - we're still in the first set of group matches so everone's a bit cagey and the teams aren't really getting going yet. There have been some sparks of decent play and when the top teams start coming up against each other in situations where it really makes a difference, they might start actually playing.
But yeah, I know what you mean about diving. A lot of the time, too, you see a referee not give a foul but not card the player for diving, either - it's like he's 80% or 90% sure it's a dive but he's not willing to commit to carding the player. Which is fair enough given that if he cards someone when they weren't diving he's going to be in for a whole world of shit from players, fans, managers and so on, but it'd be so easy to have a panel of officials watch the incident after the match and hand out a retroactive yellow card and a fine. Leave the outcome of the match up to the officials on the field, but slap down persistant divers until they stop.
It does fuck the game up, and I'm sure it's hitting their wallets too - I've talked to a lot of americans who say that they can't get into football because when you've grown up on American Football, it's hard to take a game seriously where the players all writhe around in agony if someone looks at them too hard.

yea im sure the footy will pick up at some point. but if things carry on as they are, i wont care because i wont be intreseted anymore, i know i shouldnt hate the game for the poor state its in, i hate the cheats, but i hate the governing bodies so much more. if they shook the game up so bad it would change for the better so fast.
and by that i mean, forget giving the player a fine, it wont work, hefty fine for the club LENGTHY ban for the player. it realyy has gone way too far now.
ive watched alot of classic british games from the 1960's 70's and 80's, and there were some nasty bastards back then who really wanted to hurt the opposition with dangerous tackles, more often than not both players would just get straight up and carry on like they didnt even feel it.
if the game was run just by former pro players it wouldnt be in the state its in now.
why is it aloud to keep happening, is it because the governing bodies just dont know how to deal with, or dont care or something more sinister?

yea true say, which is he head of again, is it fifa or uefa? i forget which. but our own F.A for example isnt run by anyone who even seems to understand the game or know how to run it, they have got trevor brooking in to oversee future development, but thats just not enough.
what are platini and the rest doing to stop the game being ruined by cheats? they are more concerned with players who wave their shirt around after they score a goal

omg, setspeed i never knew he said all that, i just read it, what a cock!! i sort of wish i hadnt read it coz it just makes me more mad lol, but sort of glad i did coz it just shows he aint gonna do fuck all about it.
i really hope those comments lead to his sacking and the powers that be realise they need to put the right person in his place. he was a controversial choice in the first place.
i truly believe if the governing bodies really wanted to, then they could stamp out the cheating quite swiftly. its getting worse all the time, kids all round the world are growing up watching this happen and believing it to be ok, like part and parcel of the game
"When I was a player I simulated to help my team win. Everyone said to me: 'well done'. Referees were getting things wrong back then too." AAARRGHH

yeah it fucks me
right off - and it really stops me from bring able to take the players seriously.
i don't know why - i guess it's just because it's not sporting and as an english person i hate that - i think if you don't win by fair means then you can't really say you've won. but blah blah overpaid primadonna brats etc. they can all piss off, i'm going to watch the cricket
