Unbelievably techy madness. I fookin loves it.
yeah I've got the cd & while on the subject i also loved fuel sound off 1 &2, that lawgiverz 'bass instinct' mix....and most recently the nubreed y4k mix..that has si begg 'turn the volume up vip' on it..
but that was the last of it & i remember buying loads of copies of that in a sale for like £3 from the shop i had bought it brand new from & being depressed about it..i always buy shit i think i can sell on discogs..
breaks just died :/

I remember interviewing Rennie Pilgrim for a local mag a few years ago
I asked him how he would describe his dj sets nowadays...
'I just play the tunes that make the girls dance'
...fair enough Rennie

Fuel Records from back in the day... untouchable label.
They got lumped in with the rest of "breaks" but were way ahead of the others...

I would highly reccomend looking up the following...
Kerbcrawler - Crack Whore (Quinn Whalley Remix)
Hi-Fi Bugs - Lydian & The Dinosaur
Bushwacka! releases on Plate
All early Marine Parade stuff
Tipper
1999 - 2002 was the golden age for Nu skool Breaks imo
Then all of a sudden *pffffttt*
Im sure there is a resurgence of quality breaks happening again tho
Sick Rick and Tayo's sets at Glade gave me a bit of hope.
Tons of great stuff during that time.
Went downhill very quickly though

It happened to Jungle in a similar sort of way. It'll probably happen to dubstep too one day, then something else will spring up to recapture peoples imaginations.

I've done it a couple times at gigs, but usually it's older breaks from '06~'07, pretty much Hardcore Beats, Cyberfunk and Guerilla Tactics (which read like a dnb label roster's alias operation).
Past year and a half, not much coming out; favorite breakbeat tune was probably the one on Culture Shock's EP on Ram. I will play a few Hostage dubs that Mayhem gave me over a year ago, but then everyone is giving me a hard time saying I'm just playing dnb at 33.

Pinnacle of breaks was Close To Me by Oblivion Express in '99 - it never got as good as that again!
Si Begg did some pretty good stuff tho.
