no, ive just been to 29 events in the last 31 days in NYC alone and have seen just one live band, and shit is poppin the fuck off in all kinds of realms.
and there is tons of amazing electronic music coming out here...

Where is the American Goldie? Source Direct? Remarc? Photek? Dillinja? Doc Scott?
Where is the American Mala? Loefah? El-B? Coki? Horsepower? Martyn? Kode9?
Fact is, the US rejected rave a long time ago in favour of hip-hop. You are seriously deluded if you can't see how the US and Europe differ vastly on this point.
And how the fuck am I limiting my experience? I've listened to every American dubstep artist that's popped up in the last year or two, and I'm not impressed. I'm not actively dissing US artists for the sake of it. This is a reaction. I'm telling it like I see it.

that's a first.
and the US scene is indeed different in that in 10 years, nobody is going to remember any American dubstep artists.
same as with jungle/d'n'b really.

fundamental difference between hip-hop and rave:
rave is about unity, equality and anonymity.
hip-hop is about watching someone on stage spit about his ego.
the two couldn't be further apart.

anyone banging on about credability of music in terms of geography is lost. dubstep is rooted in african music just as much as hiphop. house and techno have as much to thank detroit for as berlin or london. it's all the same. can't believe that kids get worked up about such a mundane and pointless subject.
btw, sweden is right up america's ass just like the rest of europe. we're all wearing nike airs so get over yourselves.
