I'm not sure to be honest....

If you like Reaper, why don't you suggest it in the Cockos forums who develop it? They have regular updates, so I'm sure this would be added sooner rather than later :)

This led me to have a look at the other Camel Audio products. Here's part of the product overview for their Cameleon 5000 synth:

Cameleon also allows you to import image (BMP) files and turn them into sounds. If you're ever stuck for inspiration, just try loading up any picture - perhaps a photo of your mum!

:?

Just to say- thanks!

This post is truly helpful. It is amazing to see such a structure of mutual support within this forum.. rather than the 'financial elitism' so rife in other areas of the (snort snort) dance music communities.

I want to scroll through samples quickly in the broswer before I select them, not have to load a wav into the sampler without hearing it first then having to reload a different one etc.
ctrl+alt+x

view>show media explorer.

should help. its not really gonna help for brwosing from within the sampler but maybe you can go through the media explorer to find the sound you like then load it into the sampler.

THanks Future!!! I have DL'd and am on my way to learning EVerything from scratch cause I'm pretty new to this....

Also, Future Untold, do you do most of your tunes using these programs?

And can I get these programs to sound as good as 800$ apps such as Cubase, logic, reason, etc.?

I use almost all of the programs listed here, although I also use a couple of payware plugins like Z3ta+ and Ohmforce Quad Frohmage. I also use Reason .

However, there is no reason why someone couldn't get a professional sounding album out of this software alone. (Although some audiophiles insisting on 192kHz surround sound bollox may disapprove).

Just because the software is free, doesn't mean the sound quality is lacking. You do still have to make interesting tunes with well balanced mixes however.... But that is down to taste and experience, not the tools available here.

Happy days. :)

Maybe a few slight advantages but nothing drastic.

The updated version available from the link I posted will have the latest bug fixes and updates to the program incorporated into the release (2.5 at the time of writing).

But don't be alarmed if you don't have the latest X.XX release. The changes and differences are not as major as the differences between say, Reason 1 and Reason 4.

What a wonderful post. :D

I'd like to add my two cents:

1.) Greasetube - It's a pretty hard to find little plugin that is amazing at warming up subs/bass. If you're showing this to people that currently have no experience in production it's VERY easy to use as well (think the foldback distortion in reason).

2.) Synth1 - Ever since they got rid of their aliasing problems this little beast sounds really good, it's also small and easy on the eyes as well.

happy freebieing guys.
