its so funny how people just don't get garage sometimes, i think some kind of conditioning has taken place that blinds people to the music. Us garage lovers hear razor sharp beats, massive warm bass and restrained darkness but an implant mutates it in their brain so all they hear is Beyonce vocal edits over and over. The formula must have been hidden in subliminal imagery in DnB releases post 2001 (along with another message convincing people that the DnB tune is not only unique but very good)

Cheers, some bangers mixed in there.

But just to make clear to some that may be confused, this is NOT dark 4x4, just oldskool 95-99 4x4 Garage. This thread has gone on a tangent!

the warped vocals, the dark deep bassline, the atonal horror esque pads!?
But it's like cheesy oldskool garage!

Well confused :o
lol im sorry, but RIP Groove is cheese, it was cheese @ the time, and 10 years hasnt made it any less so.
The problem we now face (as garage fans) is to educate relatively new-comers to what is and isnt good. Sully has it right with mentioning Cape Fear, that was underground and scene altering AT THE TIME! We should be promoting a return to that kind of approach rather than trying to find good tunes from back then. As to be fair, there was a heap of shit released from 98 onwards and only a thin slither of it was good.
The best version of the RIP Groove tune is by far and away the Another Level "Be Alone No More" bootleg. But when you compare that to the KMA offical remix of Be Alone, KMA show us how it shud be done.
