i vote for a straight audio track,

It works for any software that supports it. You can convert it to wav or aiff if u need once u download it. It means half the time and half the bandwidth, same quality.

If this was a lossless format I'd definately be up for it.

I'd still buy the vinyl where possible though. Nothing beats the "new vinyl" feeling

Yeah, this sounds like a great idea..

As previously said, I'd buy the vinyl, but there are a lot of tracks that will probably never see the light of day on a proper release that I'd love to own, and this appears the best way to make more music available to the masses.

Yes yes, big up Chef, excellent idea.

The distribution issue with egtting stuff out to north america at least, is that most north american distributors only end up going through ST Holdings or SRD. So you have order direct from the Uk for everyone else.

Digital distro would be big for leaping over that!

perhaps not, but I would def. hear the diffrance through my Tannoys. & if I had the "CD quality" version I could, if I needed, render my own empty3 for playing out, but i'd prob. just burn a CDR ...

I think alot of us anal audiophiles, or anyone with a decent home system, would much prefer havin 16bit 44.1kHz, as far as I'm concerned 20Hz-20kHz brickwall filters is more than enough data reduction

that FLAC sounds cool, esp. if it really is non-lossy.

Chef mate I'm proper psyched bout this as the amounts of $$$ I spend on postage is doing me in .....

that's true - but for DJing it really doesn't matter

wav download is an option - but when there are 320kbs i'm also happy

I love this idea. Also love the idea that dubstep is not only pushing forward on the audio-level, but is neither reluctant to reshape the whole idea of music distribution into a new format. As I said earlier on another forum, add a creative commons tag and i will be even happier.

I just wondered what label owners are thinking of this ....

Great idea, stopping the files spreading like wildfire seems to be the biggest problem, I'm a Graphic/ web designer. Let me know if you need people for that side of thinks. I'd love to be involved in a project like this.
