imac+logic pro 8, been using this for the last year and never experienced any kind of problems. to be honest i wouldn't go back to using a pc in the future but i guess some people will prefer PCs and some people will prefer macs. end of.

If you want a decent iMac with Logic 8, your looking at around 1200 or there abouts.
The Mac mini tends to be too weak for production.
The iMac is a good choice because it's ok for producing and what not, it still has firewire, bigger screen etc.
The new Macbooks would still be powerful enough, though I'd upgrade the RAM, the screen is smaller, it lacks firewire but its portable. I know a couple people with Macbooks who never turn it off, just put it to sleep.

I use both PC w/Vista and Mac and must say I love the Mac far more.

a basic macbook with a 320GB harddisk and 2GB of RAM will set you back about 800 quid. if you can get a student to buy logic for you then it'll be £118.

i upgraded to this system earlier this year and its been great. the basic macbooks still have firewire, for what it's worth, and it's powerful enough (but i don't use massive, albino etc etc)

macs are better but i use a PC to produce. one day i will, again, have a mac.

i terms of the "best" software, it's really relative to how your mind works. i use Ableton live and find it suits me best. others use Reason or Logic or FL Studio. try them all and see what works best.

either one is good, either one can do whatever you want. its just a personal preference. but don't believe the mac hype that they can't get virus's and works perfectly for everything.

I don't have the money for a mac, otherwise I would buy one. Strictly for production. The only thing that pisses me off about MACs is the zero amount of gaming you can do on it. So therefore I will always have a PC in my house. But I would get a MAC for production no question. For now I am settling on my duel core 2.5GHZ HP laptop that smokes along quite well thank you.

The thing that I don't like about mac, is the lack of legacy support. Once your shit is phased out, don't expect any updates from your machine. They stopped updating java for no intel folks. Last java version was 5.xxx You either just have to use it until it's crapped out or just start saving up for another one.

Logic is the bees knees. I use a LOT of image, video, web, audio and 3D software and Logic is my favourite by far! Learn your shortkeys though... and get a mighty mouse for hours of sidescrolling pleasure.

Did you guys who don't have the money for a mac pro miss my post? Build your own mac. If you have even a little computer skills you can get OS X running on your pc no problem. Retail copy of Logic installs without a hitch.

I really have a huge problems with people who insist Macs are the best because they have no viruses blah blah blah.
Has your Mac ever crashed, Has your PC crashed etc.

Tbh stfu.
It only takes a real idiot to get a virus or some kind of problem with your computer. As long as you know what you're doing and don't do stupid shit with your computer it's going to be perfectly fine.
