Tell you what though.. i've become a fan of Running, since I bought the album.. so cheesy but so catchy, not heard it been dropped yet. Hoped they would at Fabric (31st) but they didn't. Anyway.. yeah it's a crowd pleaser tune. One for the bean'edz
Glad this isn't just me, when I first bought the C&S album, running was one of the stand out tracks for me, I love it. but it does seem to get slated an awful lot!

it's not a sample! and sorry but they are rinsing that synth just a bit too much - 4 tunes all with pretty much the same lead synth..?

Yeh i agree. eastern jam still kills it but i'm gettin tired of how samey the tunes start to sound!
To me it just sounds like they've gone a bit overboard with tryin to make every track a big one!

Rant over, good tune imo

Heres my take on it, they make tunes that are well within their comfort zone. Yes the production is probably better than anyone else but that doesnt necessarily make the tune a good tune. Itl sound good but something like saxon or madhouse does nothing for me personally.

listen to the last tune on this mix. Trust best tune theyve done by far cos its different.
i swear that last tune is in fact a Chase & status tune, those bass sounds sound awfully familiar... if it is, then the above paragraph means nowt! i fuckin love madhouse, sick tune. chase & status have a certain sound, and their stickin to it, and why not!? i would.

They probly run off a template set in there OS sequncer.
Dont knock someone pushing the sound to greater heights.
And yes, Nero - This Way is the fucking tune!

I have to agree, Running is a standout track on the album. Really feeling the eighties vibe across the intro no matter how cheesy it is. (to be honest, im a fan of the decade of music)
It reminds me of playing GTA Vice City!!

Defo, its a shame cos they are really versitile producers, they have made sum of the best DnB tracks over the years, which are all from very different angles from 1 another, dunno why when making dubstep they keep recycling the same material. Sure they will have sum fresh stuff dubstep wise in the not to distant future, cos they are more than capable.
Talkin of versitile DnB producers

imagine Ed Rush & Optical having a crack at a few dubstep tunes

its a different genre to them, they have been making DNB for years, but not dubstep, their technical ability should help them make the transition!
haha, you dont say...

Wachs Lyrical wrote:Don't mean to be another Chase & Status hater but you know that synth sound that they have rinsed? I can't believe no one has realised this but it is a preset on Native Instruments Massive plugin. It is called Brutal Electro.
Ok fair enough make a signature sound, but don't blatantly steal a PRESET!
This has been pointed out in other threads about their dubstep. A good track is a good track preset or not.
But ya-know, bigger names in dubstep are doing the same with other softsynth presets (some of which i couldn't listen to due to being overly familiar with melody's that had been lifted from preset sequenced synths)...but it isn't worth getting hung up about original sound design.
it's tantamount to suggesting that people are not allowed to use 4/4 time in their music.

You wanna check out Ed Rush - Sludge...
A HUGE tune that in my opinion didnt get the recognition it deserved when it came out!!
Chase and Status have killed it but need to switch it up a bit now...cant just re-hash the same tune 20 times with diff samples...
