Doubtful.
What is the aim of Zeitgeist? Is it to 'convince' people with the strength of their arguments? This is not unlike the social liberals or 'utopian socialists' who thought they could convince the privileged in society to share the wealth with a bit of moral persuasion.
In a semi related joke, why did Karl Marx give his political economy students such a hard time?
Because he wanted to observe the class struggle

It's not the strength of their arguments, they're highlighting the logic and functions of a monetary-based capitalist society that has expanded by the back door to create an illusion of democracy. I'm not pro- or anti-capitalist at the moment (I'm thinking about it) but I am pro-resource based economy.
I have actually experienced work in a socialist society based in France called Emmaüs; they're a homeless charity and everyone works to sustain their independent communities, they don't get paid but they get a bit of pocket money every week and any extra goes towards the central organisation to promote the charity, help other communities etc (basically a central-liquidation pool for funding)... people at the place I went had been there for years because they get comfortable and don't see the point (don't know how they get themselves a pension like but one guy was 69 and had basically retired, he just peeled the garlic everyday!).
The view that more = better is not correct unless you've got substantial capital ownership and everyone works for you instead (it's still a hereditary power game when you think about it, economic monetary-feudalism, but with added gambling opportunities).
The thing is that GDP does not relate to subjective wellbeing over time at all, Bourdillard is more relevant to this current time with his observation that capitalism is more about consumption that production because there would be no production without it. Marketing is the psychological carrot and laws of the state are the stick.
