FWD>>'s always been about London underground sounds, which in the past meant dark garage, breakbeat garage and proto-grime, then also some broken stuff and full on grime, and now funky. to call it just a "dubstep" club would be to limit it, something the promoters have no interest in doing...

Not being funny but if I went to FWD and I started hearing some funky house I'd be pissed. I know KODE9 is deep and shit but it seems like he's trying to be "diverse" for the sake of it. Though I didn't hear the set so I don't know... seems to be a mixed reception going by this thread.
to be fair i was outside having a snout for the first 15 minutes of his set, then only hung around for another 15 inside so he could've mostly been playing gabba for all i know. the bits i heard were funky though.

as for the 'mixed reception' i think that's just limited to this thread, because everyone was going mental for it last night

nice to see so many familiar faces/////

i feel honored to finally have met corpsey.

----+ + what blackdown said, its not a generic "dubstep" night is it? ?
enough of those anyway if thats what one wants to hear.

Funky is 'funky' or UK house, quite a lot of talk about it on the forum. Kode9 has always been diverse. Was prob the best i've seen him tbh.

No doubt. I'm not cussing it because I wasn't there. Just saying funky house isn't really my thing.... Don't mind a bit of that dark german business though.

Quite a lot of it was pretty hardcore/banging, wasn't necessarily that poppy (although there is definitely some great tunes in that mould in funky).

@ clarkycatdealer: when did I meet you?

Speaking of Kode9, did he actually pull the needle of the wrong record or? Sounded like that at least, I didn't even dare try to get onto the dance floor.

We've all done it at least once!

Latest Marcus Nasty & Rankin Rinse FM podcast (with JME, Frisco, Coldsteps + Versatile). http://www.dubplate.net/rinse/podcasts/ ... 261108.mp3

25mins in - Geeneus - Yellowtail (http://www.boomkat.com/item.cfm?id=1493 ... ght=149370)
1h18mins in (this one got wheeled) - Hard House Banton - Sirens (http://www.ukfunky.com/ukfunkydotcom_006.htm)
I'm sure he played a few others from this set as well, but not certain (1h06mins?? 1h25mins?? 1h26mins?? 1h34mins??).

Sorry I don't know the names or producers (but had heard most of them before on various Marcus Nasty/Spyro/MA1/Mac10/Crazy Cousins/Clairvoyants rinse shows).
They were generally the more grimey sounding bass heavy funky tunes rather than the housey stuff (no cheesy commercial sounding vocals).
