I guess you are talking about making a sub from the 808 bd? find the longest bd hit in the pack and increase the attack on it to your liking.

Whats the best way to get rid of the click noise at the beginning of a sine note apart from EQuing and altering the attack? using Logic, EXS24 oe ESP..

The only other way to do it is to export it and manually chop it at 0 db crossover point.

Use the "Start Sample" Parameter in your Sampler. I bed this one works to every decent sampler.

I don't quite understand this concept as I can hear the sub bass well in all the commercial tracks I listen to? :?

I think it is a function of the system that you're listening too. Loud is relative isn't it? A lot of subs in the proper sense one tends to feel rather than hear... That resonant tone that rattles things is closer to 180Hz than 60Hz.

Something I learnt a while ago which wasnt mentioned here.
If you want to raise the overall presence/volume of your sub bass without boosting your levels, turn your resonance about half way up and then from 0 very slowly turn up the frequency. At a certain point your sub bass will suddenly sound a lot louder and thicker.
Technically, I think this is what is going on.
You have managed to find the exact same frequency as what the sound is oscillating at, so youve essentially created a self oscillating filter. I think, maybe.
Go search earth shattering sub bass on you tube to get a really complex explaination.

Guaranteed to rearrange grandma's wrinkles!

1. Turn Osc 2 & 3 off.
2. Osc 1 to Sine if it's not.
3. Set root note to C8.
4. Adjust the volume ADSR to taste.
5. Grandma shit.
best sub-bass advice for fl studio. simple yet effective.

fiziks wrote:Also, with a sub, if you can hear it real well, it's way WAY too loud. If I'm mixing the drums and bass to -6 or so, I'll have the sub at around -16 to -18. Sub is the easiest thing to turn up too much since it's not that audible. Open up your analyzer and see where the sub is peaking. Make sure it's not spiking higher than everything else. Especially if you're using a straight sine because there aren't a lot of dynamics.
Hmm, this is confusing. I've been running a few tunes through a spectral analyser to get some idea of the frequencies/levels, and in most the sub is coming a good few decibels louder than the kick is. for instance, a quick look at peverelist - infinity is now, the kicks are coming in at around -25dB, with the sub kicking in at around -10dB. Am I misunderstanding how spectral analysers work? I feel that I am, cos the subs don't sound that much louder than the kicks....

That's basically just boosting a little notch on an eq.

You're still boosting the level, if you look at the level meter, it will be louder.
