Obviously talking about raping nuns and killing handicapped bitches is playing a character in the same sort of way some Death Metal does. They are great lyrics as far as being shocking goes....a lot more interesting than pretencious 'concious' rap.

if you want horrorcore rap then Big L is far from the best at it.
The only cool thing about L is his voice and to an extent his flow. His lyrics are fucking dogshit. I'm sorry you all feel so strongly about how great he is but he really isn't all that.
He is just a name from that "list" that people who think they are "inside the game" use to sound like they are "real" or they know what they are talking about. It's just a name drop used to add credence to your own tastes or artistic output.

@MrHyde - why are you referencing concious rap? What the fuck does that have to do with the price of fish? And how are those lyrics interesting? In any way? Please enlighten me. At best they probably sound quite good if delivered nicely but other than that it's just garbage and nonsense. But then I would always wanna listen to Jedi Mind Tricks or something of that ilk if I want to listen to something offensive. At least the beats will be nice.

I don't think Big Daddy Kane deserves to be on that list at all, since you know, he was asthmatic and still rapped as quick as he did (and essentially changed the whole game).

To me, Big L's problem is just the fact that he didn't have enough material to really judge him as an artist, rather than just a rapper. Plus Cam'ron was the best mc to come out of COTC so suck my dick no homo b.
