"Untitled" has so many stuff just... randomly sliding underneath itself in the beginning. It's almost like a sketchbook, before it evolves into the song that it turns into.

"Lambeth" is pretty good. I don't listen to it all the way for some reason. Not a disliking, but just a disassociation with it.

Enjoying them both a lot.

A sign of good things to come.

The track on fly lo's myspace is excellent also.

I love how people on this forum are militant against any sort of Burial criticism. As it happens, I love 99% of his music and he is probably the producer i've rated the most over the past 3 years or so, but i'm just totally not feeling the tracks at all. Lambeth has quite a nice groove, but the bell-sounding instrument just absolutely grates my ears and sounds horrible. That untitled track is the worst though. It seems like he is trying to make melody from the vocals, Todd Edwards style, but it just sounds really forced and awkward. I actually think the melody when the track is purely instrumental is quite nice, but as soon as those vocals come back, I want to shoot myself in the ears. Perhaps it's because i've heard him do so much better previously that i'm being so harsh, but forums are here to discuss music from a personal, critical perspective - good or bad. It's not "hating" to dislike something and offer criticism, even if it goes against the flow. Anyway, Burial can do what he likes and that's what i've always admired the most about him, but it is ridiculous to expect people to like everything he makes.

I also read cp1492's comment on youtube about me:

"I was reading some pussy on some internet board going on about how how bad the 'ring modulation' or 'pitch filter' on this tune was - I hate tossers who mistake their weirdo audio equipment knowledge with good music"

Honestly, how old are you? At least post something like that in the thread in question instead of cross-posting onto youtube of all places.

Can tell they're unfinished, like most Burial tunes. It's a grower.

loving the differing of opinions on these tunes, really interesting. i can't hear much to involve me in Untitled/Unamed at all, it sounds like a less good track off Untrue to me, but then most of you are loving it. Really interesting.

Lambeth is amazing to me, the beat, the subtle melodic, i want to say cadence, but i'm not sure if i'd be using it in the right context.

Dr H wrote:Both tracks are rubbish. The vocals on that untitled tracks are just ridiculously bad, though I like the background beats and melody. First track has god awful ring modulation (or the cheapest sounding pitch filter i've ever heard) and it sounds like someone trying to immitate Burial from FL studio or something. Not impressed at all, but they are unfinished, so maybe they can be improved if they decide to go forward with them...

large up the studio 'experts' without a creative bone / soul every time

"Untitled" definitely does sound a bit flawed, but as always with him, it's flawed in a perfect way. Like, how can you not love that melody, even if all the vocal fragments don't mesh?

The "when I look into your eyes" part gives me this warm feeling that I've only ever gotten with some of J-Dilla's shit. It's just so disarmingly beautiful. :|

The untitled track is like some of the garage he seems to be inspired by, but lots better to me.
