This's me and my current setup, working on some new beats as you can see.
Does that giant wheel support MIDI?

Amd 3800+
2 gb ram
Two medium sized hds and a back up external.
Some awful graphics card and an emu 0404. Running tiny xp. Novation remote zero. Works pretty well despite being three years old. I have two profiles one with no internet and no background shit for music making. The other for everything else.

hee hee

4 studio cats

2 black, 1 tabby and one all white

the 2 black ones are Midi compatable but the tabby only has a serial midi port

the AD converters on the white cat are vintage!

what's all this about Macs being so expensive? a white macbook is 700 quid, and logic is 200 quid cheaper than cubase. sounds reasonable to me.

anyway, as someone who uses a mac for music full time, a day saved fucking about trying to install drivers/recover from a crash/etc is equivalent to a saving of one day's 'salary'. and on that front, my mac has saved me loads compared to the Vaio i was wrestling with before. if it's just a hobby and time isn't an issue then you may have other priorities tho, obv.

anyway, specs:

white macbook - 2.0Ghz, 3GB ram, 250GB harddisk, Logic, no aftermarket synths. works fine for all my needs (usually up to about 40/45 channels with plenty of plugins).

the new white macbook is about 720 quid, as opposed to the 700 i paid, but it has been improved and is a bit quicker now. i reckon it's good value :)
