You answered the question in your first sentence.

It doesn't affect the quality in terms of the mathematics/summing being performed in the box, but being able to hear what you're doing better means making better decisions, means making better mixes, means better quality.

And yes it DOES make a difference. A big one.

BUT, if I ran two PCs and two soundcards like mentioned before, and basically recorded out of one into the other it would make a difference?

To be onest i think you really won't notice much difference. I've used both and the latency settings are even better now i use a usb 2 soundcard (mindprint). Plus they don't pick up noise from internal pc stuff. I had the same problem a few times.

But in the end, buy what you think wuits you. I would say go external though.. But that's my opinion

I wasn't that good in pc's at the times. I placed the soundcard to close to my videocard. And the fan on that card was creating static. But i saw you post about the emu. That's the exact one i had later. It workes perfect indeed. My partner in production uses the emu now to.

I think it has to do with the pc setup to i guess don't know, just sharing my experience.
