I know renoise people love looking at the xrns files of songs etc so i though maybe i could post it here before i go to renoise....
then again if the song really grates your ears, it won't be a treat....
this was made using the dsf 15 sample pack.... so its in the competition... just sayin :|

i've re-downloaded the renoise demo because i want to give it another chance. it's as confusing as fuck. wtf is hex? after fucking around with the program for about half an hour i finally realised you had to have record pressed to input notes. it took me another 15 minutes 2 hours to "figure out" (ie. i read a bit of the manual) how to delay samples by a number of ticks by using the Dx command. i feel like a fucking hacker or some shit.

is there any disadvantage of using this over something with a piano roll? is it even worth learning how to use renoise (i would plan on rewiring reason into it).

what LPB should i be tracking at? i'm currently at a very conservative 4.

the advantage is that people go nuts with only their computer keyboard

but from what ive gathered....that takes a loonnnng time

i tried the demo again because of the mention on CDM and i was impressed with some things like the built in audio editor, but i dont think i could do anything but drum breaks in that program without missing looking at the keyboard in the piano roll

i do have a new respect for the program...its nuts

it's all about the 7/4s. i want to hear some more time sig dubstep which isn't me doing it :O

go for 8, gives you slightly more control than 4 obviously, but if you want to do the whole triplet thing you gotta go 12, you don't need to use all the pattern effect commands and shit if you do this. Edit step 3 means your going on the 8ths/16th where as 4 will give you the triplet thing...

i almost was gonna explain what hexidecimal actual is and how people messing with the demo should really take a gander at the extensive tutorial side to the renoise website rather than just messing about, but then i forgot people don't read now a days :w:

Am i being stupid when i say its tiresome to re enter the notes when i put in my sub.... or is there a harder,better,faster,stronger way to do it, emphasis on better and faster

Simple.

Make your pattern (like 1 bar) of your bass, hit ctrl+c, hit the home key, then hit ctrl+p. Viola, the whole pattern is copied down the entire track. Do this when you have a loop with multiple tracks, and BAM! Loop is copied throughout the whole pattern.

TL:DR version.

Ctrl + C
Home Key
Ctrl + P

i do triplets using the delay column @ 4 lpb.

1st line 0 delay
2nd line 60 delay
3rd line A0 delay
4th line nothing

will give you 8th note triplets.

As for hex:
hexadecial is a system of counting that has 16 values (0-9, A-F) in each place as opposed to the usual 10 or 2 in binary. This lets you count to 256 rather than 100 using only two columns.

In Renoise, the volume, panning, delay, and FX columns all use hex for values.

i didn't really say what i meant clearly i don't think,

lets say i put in a bass line, it has note offs and notes etc,

i then want to just copy and paste the whole thing to another track but instead have the notes come from a different instrument, in this instance, sub

is there a way of doing this quickly?
