there's always that old thing of putting a different sting on each dub, or a sly dropout somewhere.
then if it's leaked (bootlegged, p2p'd, broadcast) u can tell by who.
a bit cynical, maybe, but if that's wot it takes, even as a deterrant...

if a producer gives you an unreleased tune dont give it or sell it to someone else, how difficult is it to understand, have a bit of fucking respect for the effort thats gone into making the tune and feel priveledged that they think enough of you to pass it to you
have a bit of respect, theres no excuses for this shit

The worst case is if they were to play the tune without having permission.
OK well apologies, but I still don't understand why its an issue. I've obviously got stuff to learn.

Don't you both feel embarassed acting like five year old kids who stole a toy? Get a grip.
Trying to find excuses like "i was stoned" is ridiculous.
Trying to sort this whole story out in a public forum is ridiculous.

I'd be fucking screwing if someone I gave a tune that is going to be released to started handing these tunes out to people I have never even heard of! it's one sale loss, you don't have any control over it not being on slsk, limewire or all that shit. It'd be a straight up insult to the trust and repsect of the producer. It problems like this which make so many producers defensive to the point of paranoid about giving thier tunes out.

Am I wrong in saying that this discussion seems pretty much over?
There's so much heat flying around Im scared to leave a comment. I just feel like everything worth saying HAS BEEN; maybe it's time to move on.
I get the feeling the point has been made. That's all. One dub or twenty, give or recieve, I guess the masses have spoken.

The money should equal the cost of one record on which the dub would have appeared.
Just admitting to the deed is not enough. Restitution needs to be paid to the artist.
I have no problem with that. I actually told this to him in our conversation, but his priorities were to make whoever gave it to me and myself look bad. Success.

Sorry, but I think thats massively overreacting. Its one fucking dub. If he'd put a new album that took a year to produce on limewire, fine, spout off. But as it is? Stop being so gangsta.
Joseph-J you clearly haven’t sat in front of a PC for hours building beats. Its not just the time tho, it’s the fact someone is making from something HE should be making from. PPL saying Kom is over reacting, I think that’s harsh. The guys fucked off cos his beats are being used as pawns for green…
When you given beats your also given the trust of the artist to hold the tracks down. I can’t even begin to imagine how the fuck you even strike up a convo like that. Hey I got sent a dub, you want it. I mean surely alarm bells were ringing... Didn’t you think hmmm maybe I should be getting this of the ARTIST..
I agree with Relaks nuff deffo said but I had to show my disgust at this. Seems it’s happening a lot and this is detrimental to our scene. Sadly for the DJ's it means producers go on lockdown n then it’s slowing down the whole movement!
