What you mean laugh at the people paying attention? I pay my hard earned money to go see DJ's, generally for there mixing not so much the selection. If someone turns up smashed out of there face and drops a load of clangers (which is rare) I get my screwface on.

creepy dj fanboys standing behind the decks looking intensely at what you're doing can gtfo - i get drunk and have a good time, and the crowd does too - not necessarily technically perfect every mix but meh.

if i wanted to be perfect i'd use ableton

Edit.

Not every time I go out to get drunk, it's just nice to see the DJ's who got me into what I'm doing today, mix. If they want to go fucking party behind the decks, piss off to some house party.

So when you go to a gig to see a band you enjoy, do you appreciate them getting fucked and not being able to play properly?

Decks & a mixer are an instrument as well, I pay up to 15 quid to get into a place expecting that instrument to be played correctly.

he's playing for half an hour at a sixth form party, i doubt anyone will be demanding their money back after a clang or 2

i've only played out once, but was expecting to clang a few times and had sort of accepted it. but i ended up doing 2 1/2 hours (which felt like 10 minutes) with virtually no fuck ups. which is better than i do at home lol

i wouldn't worry about it too much

as you should mate!! i def disagree with the posts about not smoking and drinking instead. i practice the exact opposite ritual and slay it pon the decks (imho). each to their own ya know. i like to burn in that 15-5 minute range right before i play and during my set as well. if i have drinks it is kept to a 2 drink maximum before i play. then again i am a smoker and not a drinker so do what you do and don't NOT smoke if thats what u normally do in everyday life.

kill it bruvah

raspekt bruvah. keep the fiyah bunnin then my man. too many drunk djs thinking they are "killin it".

every smoker i know that djs loves to blaze before and often during as well. usually sounds better than the "wasted" dj imho.

Word of warning, mixing at home becomes quite boring after mixing in front of people
