People get waaaay to hyped over DMZ stuffs... its getting ridiculous! What will it be like in a few years?! A single track thats just released going for £30+ is stupid. Lets just all calm the fuck down and remember its still just music at the end of the day.

Twats paying over the odds makes other twats think they can sell it over the odds as well... vicious cycles and all that, don't do it, it sucks for everyone. Way too much importance is put on DMZ anyway and its getting out of hand.
Is it cos people are so desperate to prove they are 'heads' they feel it necessary to go over the top to own the releases? Return II Space is still on sale and people were acting like it was the last record ever going to be produced, and there were being hand made by 1000 year old monks in a Himalayan cave with Mala and Coki over seeing the prices from thrones of gold. Eyez VIP is even more hyped! One track! Calm the fuck down.

obviously it's purely down to the market setting it's own prices, however he is right, Anti War Dub is a fucking nutty tune, but it costs more than an original pressing of Bob Marley's first ever song which just seems a bit silly. Nothing can be done, it's just frustrating to see happen

The "Hype" is justified!
Why shouldn't the DMZ massive (considering they are the practically the inventors of the genre) get all the kudos they deserve. I don't like seeing all the records I want going for insane money on Ebay, but that's the name of the game.

no one makes tunes like Mala, he's the lion tamer in the DMZ circus. :7:

where I'm from many people into "Dubstep" have no idea who Mala and Coki are, that to me is way more depressing than the stupid money someone is willing to pay for Anti-War Dub 12", or whatever.

I came to comment on how awesome EYEZ VIP is, quite a refreshing track, I really like the bass line.

:halfstep rave:

It's just symptomatic of a "Must have NAO!!!1!!!!" and "Gotta Catch 'Em All!!!!" society. And a society that is completely dissociated from the value of money, and what money is. When money is just numbers you see on a screen which then gets lobbed on to a credit card that doesn't have to be paid off immediately with money that might come from a loan or other means, the fact that money is something you get as a token in exchange for work that has been rendered is completely lost. Chucking insane amounts of money means absolutely nothing to many people because our monkey brains just haven't evolved to comprehend it.

It doesn't just happen with records, it happens for all sorts of trivial things like gig tickets, festival tickets and fucking iPhones. It's just silly. Money is so devalued these days.

why is that silly? not saying all prices are justified, but to me money means nothing (as in value), really. i don't get hyped when i take a look into my bank account. putting goat stare onto the deck feels pretty sweet though...

Exactly its value is subjective. For example I spend a lot of money of vinyl, which my mate finds insane. But by the same token, he spends a lot on football boots and other equipment, which I find insane. Entirely subjective, everyone's got something they're willing to spend a shit load of money on.
