Mine barely dropped, online insurance sites were quoting £3000-5000 for my car. So just renewed.

Been driving for nearly 5 years, never had an accident. But I was always just a named driver until last years so technically only had 1 years no claims.

I'm hoping that going in with fairly low expectations might lead to a pleasant surprise.

Wouldn't it be that somebody made a claim on PinUp's insurance?

Yeah it was my fault so he's claiming against me, I don't think I'm going to be able to afford the insurance as well as buying myself a new car anyway so it doesn't even matter for now.

There was hardly any damage to his car either just a burst tyre and a dented wheel arch, guess it's just the insurance companies chance to make some easy money off me :(

Are you sure that's not his personal injury claim? You don't have to pay that

Yep, especially if he's gone to the place recommended by his insurance. My girlfriend scratched her door, needed the whole thing repainted. Got quoted around £180-300 at most places. The Aviva recommended place? £2300. To repaint one door. Black. Not metallic.

I drove into the back of a guy's Audi before (in my first year of driving) at about 4 mph in the middle of a sneezing fit  Told him he's not having my insurance details, said I'll pay for it myself. After a year of back and forth, him claiming he needed a new bumper (had a dent about half a cm deep and about the size of a 2p) and a left parking sensor (fair play), saying he's gotta get it done at an audi garage, and it costs £2000, said that ain't happening, insurance wouldn't pay for that for a tiny dent. A year after, comes back to me, says he's found somewhere that can fix bumpers, ended up paying him £105.

If I'd had a £2000+ claim in my first year of driving, I would've been looking about £4/5000 the next year. Piss take. Insurance companies happy to pay out extortionate prices are the problems, same reason vet fees are so high.

Naa he's not claiming any injury. My insurance was already at £1600 a year, I flipped a car a couple of years ago and it was up at £2200 so I've been driving super carefully for 2 years to build up my no claims I was only 5 weeks away from another year as well. I really begged the guy to not go through insurance but he wasn't up for it, probably thought I was going to rip him off.

Guess I better buy a push bike
