Does boomkat list prices outright? I never used discogs before i purchased a few of the items in my above post, i really hate that i have to commit to buying first before the seller tells me how much they charge for shipping. I had to cancel about 4 different orders because i was being rinsed on s+h.

Yeah they list it outright but it goes up with each record you add to the cart. Takes the piss really when you wan't to get a few records.

You should be able to view their shipping prices up front. Here: http://www.discogs.com/seller/USERNAME#terms

Remember about discogs, most sellers are people just selling out of their bedrooms, they won't benefit from the cheaper prices on postage that business will. Same for packaging, if I buy 50 12" mailers, I bet they cost more per unit than they do when Chemical/Juno/etc. are buying thousands at a time.

I used to think I was being ripped off until I started selling on there.

Ah, thanks for pointing that out. The thing with Discogs is that everything single thing i've looked up is for sale. I even cross referenced to the actual shops who were listing items on discogs, they had loads of stuff not on their official website. Apart from Chemical, Juno, and Red Eye, what's probably the "best" shop for latest and common releases? I used to use Ad Noiseam as i found their prices were the cheapest, but if they dont have what i want i don't really know where to turn but Discogs. Everything i wanted to buy is around £5 or more expensive on Chemical, by the way.

I usually use a mix (a lot of the stuff I buy isn't a new release, it's usually something I've heard and picked up much later), so it's usually whichever one of juno/chemical/redeye has it in stock, and is cheapest.

Chemical and Juno have been more reliable, but Redeye are probably more accommodating. Chemical used to have cheaper shipping, but it's the same as Redeye now. Juno I usually find is a bit more expensive (especially on larger orders).

I like the pre-order facility on Redeye, and they've never taken longer than an hour to get back to me.

Juno's selection is just absolutely huge.

I honestly can't recommend one over any of the others.

Tip for Discogs: Always check the Sales History to make sure you aren't paying over the odds. Just because something's for sale at £50, doesn't mean you should actually pay it!

Yeah, i pre-ordered Old Apparatus - Derren and bought Zebulon/Hammerhead, both from Red Eye. I already put the order through before i realised i wanted another item, hit them up and it was really easy to add it to the order and for no extra shipping :) and the discogs thing, i was just looking at the price difference on a few releases, they differ loads on a single item - the other day Compa - Dem A Talk was on there for £15 and the highest price was £50! Kind of makes me think some of it must be some dodgey stuff . Everything i wanted was sold out on Juno too  Fun though.

Yeah, £15 is probably a fair price. The people trying to sell it for £50 are just mongols who have some grand dream of buying THE ULTIMATE RECORD and it selling for a million quid the week after release. They'll never sell it at £50.

Always check the sales history of items on Discogs... it tells you the lowest/highest prices sold as well as the average. I would never pay more than the highest, that goes without saying really.. and I probably wouldn't buy for above the average either. Its good because some prices can be a bit deceiving.. for example if theres 8 copies of a record on there for £50+ and then one comes up at £30 you might think its cheap, but according to sales history the average may be like £15 and the highest £25.

Edit: fuck sake garethom already said this a few posts up lol, my bad. I reiterate the importance of checking sales history!

Kahn & Neek - Percy (who hasn't bought this!? although actually bought for Fierce)
XI - Joy/Fear (brilliant demonstration of how XI can do a 120bpm tracks and still keep to his original style)
Four Tet- Jupiter/Ocras (Both sides are ace but Ocras is lush)
Crazy P - Changes (Appleblim Remix) (lovely vocals. dub side is great too.)
Paul Woolford- Let It Go (Komonazmuk & Appleblim Remix) (long ass, beautiful intro with a rough side when it drops. lovely)
