I listened to a riddim/trench dubstep mix today... I'm not a big fan of either, however the music does have some chill laid back qualities.
Anyway... I heard some of the intros on these songs and I was shocked at how tekker(sexy nerd shit) they were... God damn they were simple yet amazing.
ill see you around... on the list of missing asian girls

Not really... From what I can tell, trench relies on the manipulation of distortion just like regular dubstep. The thing that separates the two is that trench manipulates distortion in short burst generally with a lfo on a low pass filter while dubstep has long bursts that lasts more than a single beat and the filters are more varied.
Trench is dubstep in a similar way robostep is dubstep or deathstep is dubstep or how ancient uk stuff is dubstep.

looooooooooool
======================
on a side note, i'm playing my first partially vinyl / partially CDJ set on sunday and gahhhh i really hope Mere Sher arrives in time for it!
practiced mixing vinyl for the first time today and yes it's obviously harder (happy terpit?), mainly cause you can't just start the tune on the first downbeat. if i could do that it would be a lot easier cause i'm pretty sure all my records are 140, and beatmatching isn't that difficult if you hit play close to the right beat. mixing into vinyl is much harder than mixing out (i'm not going to do any vinyl to vinyl transitions because there's only gonna be one turntable with 3 CDJs), so i'm probably just gonna do safe transitions when mixing into the vinyl unless i really nail it on the first downbeat or have a blend in mind that i really think will work.
how do you guys generally beatmatch? i'm a bit anal about not fucking up my records so i've been using the pitch slider cause i've been under the impression that that's the safest way, but do you guys actually put your hand on the side of the platter to slow it down or speed it up like a jogwheel with CDJs (I always thought this was bad for the record)? also a friend told me that you can squeeze the metal thing in the center to slow it down and twist it to speed it up, but that sounds like it would be bad for the record for the same reason. what do you guys consider the best way and/or the safest way?

why would any of that be bad for the record? youre just speeding up / slowing down the platter manually instead of with the pitch slider.
if youre good at riding the pitch you can basically just rely on that tbh. but if im really off the mark tempo wise, i just speed up / slow down the record with my finger on the label, if it's a small adjustment then pinch/twist the spindle. never been a fan of using the side of the platter like with a cdj
