bingo, a good friend of mine started with this shit. at first it was just to be ironic and all "haha im an adult and i like a kids show about ponies", then he started buying mlp dolls and shirts and now he LITERALLY cant go three sentences without making some sort of reference to the show

and my beef with winter isn't even necessarily the cold, as i've learned to deal with it, but rather how all the infrastructure slows down and is less efficient. i cannot handle it

I am noticing that the excessive heat/sweating is increasing my turnover in clothes. Whereas in London a t-shirt would be good for at least a three day weekend assuming I wasn't out and out anywhere too odorous, in Madrid there is a strict 10hr limit before I start feeling a bit 'ripe'.

The whole thing with the winter is not the cold, it is the darkness as dfd says! Used to live in Finland for quite a few years - if someone says darkness won't affect you, they are in denial. It will slowly creep on you and mess with your head. Need to be rather careful not to let that happen. It's even worse when it is too warm and there is no snow to reflect whatever you've got left of the light.

I used to say that I don't care for the sun too much, but I was wrong. Plus there are all sorts of issues being researched in connection with limited sun exposure in Nordic countries and shit like autoimmune disorders (MS for example). Not to mention depression and suicide rates.

That said, short summer in Finland was quite an experience. Going out around 2am it was still bright but the streets were deserted - like being right in the middle of a scene from apocalyptic films.
