Dont necessarily agree or disagree with this, but building on it, I think a lot of times people over-analyze music. It's great to be really deep into the music, but when it gets to the point where you're becoming so overly intellectual about the music that you're missing the overall experience and emotion that the track possesses, then you're going too far.
I, by the way, am very guilty of doing that.
And dfd, I know it's really vague, but for me a "vibe" just describes that uncapturable idea behind the music that rings the same in everyone's ears but is processed differently and holds different meaning to everyone's hearts and minds.

i don't mean literally i don't know what "vibes" means. i just mean i hear the same phrases over and over used to describe people's responses to music and it's just so empty of significance, said for the sake of it. it's one thing having the overwritten, overwrought nonsense that music writers have to come out with to try and overcome the difficulty in speaking about music, but general talking about the music goes to the complete opposite end. it's like newspeak. a handful of clichés rehashed over and over for every situation. it's not really saying anything at all.skwiggo wrote:i'm definitely guilty of doing this especially on some threads recentlySonika wrote:dubfordessert wrote:the vernacular for talking about music is so boring it makes me cringe. i don't even know what "vibes" means anymore.
