yeah i borrowed the first collected edition from a friend, didnt finish it because it just felt like it was trying to capitalise on the "shocking" aspect of preacher and the success of TWD

yea fellow comic book nerd as well.. the thing abou garth ennis is that his writing style is supposed to shit on what is thought of as conventional writing within a genre.. which is why his punisher is amazing because punisher is considered a "super hero" but he doesn't have powers making him perfect for ennis to write about, and ennis decided to make fun of wolverine immensely throughout the punisher max series. same thing with his boys series. anti super hero, and ridiculous. crossed is the same except with very little humor at all minus horsecock. but it shits on all zombie concepts. why not go further a bit.. within the comic, one of the protagonists says that the crossed are the worst aspects of humanity times a thousand.. that's what a lot of zombie concepts were originally about, especially what george romero was intending to demonstrate within his films--his critique was about humanity. anyway, i love crossed because its truly fucked up, garth ennis knows how to write twisted shit very well, so it works for me. not to mention rob kirkman's writing is nothing special whatsoever...

it's just sparatic and juvenile for juveniles sake

for me it goes beyond it's goal into trying too fucking hard. almost a parody of his own writing style

see his ennis and mccrea stuff under dicks is juvenile.
crossed is just fucked up for no reason except that he has been a boundary pusher since day. by no means am i enlightened by most of his work, but he knows how to write a story really well. his method and manner of writing is completely different from other authors within comics and always has been, continuingly making me always extremely entertained with his writing. he is the anti-hero of comic book authors.

It's a show with bad acting and bad writing, but you can't stop watching the trainwreck.
Thankfully the comics are good.
Also I can't picture the guy from The Wire out of that role, "Where's Carl Rick? Where's Carl? Where's Carl!?"

So the show handled one of the hardest scenes from the comics with Carl almost getting raped and Rick going batshit soooo well. It was nice to see comic Rick finally show up with his brand of crazy (in the comics he's missing a hand from the governor chopping it off in their first encounter), unfortunately reading the latest issue it seems like Rick is finally gonna die at the hands of the best villain to date in the books and it's going to become Carl's story like Kirkman intended. The show is finally starting to become like the comic in spite of changing character deaths and roles and Daryl and Beth being the most interesting characters and arcs despite not being in the comics at all.
Can't wait for next season...
