LTUK wrote:Bradford is pretty fucked up, I have a few asian mates from there and they say similar things. I dont envy anyone that lives there... That issue is obviously a lot more complicated than ukip would have us believe though, and actually has very little to do with modern immigration. I remember learning how successive governments and industry in the 50's-60's encouraged Indian and Pakistani immigration to work in the failing textile industries and then housed them all in the same shitty areas. I mean what did they expect to happen? Obviously its easier not to integrate if your given the chance and that exactly what we did. You can't very well blame people for being here having invited them in the first place.
spot on mate, immigration isnt the fault of the immigrants who the vast majority come to work and build a new life, its the idiots that invited them over knowing that this would happen. Bradford's been sacrificed on the altar of social engineering by successive governments since the 50s and 60s and its pretty much totally fucked the place up sadly. It polarised opinions and created fear and mistrust on both sides which is how we got the areas and events that i described in my earlier post.

Dunno man, Bradford seems more like a product of racism than anything else. If not, it's the same kind of animosity Jaydot shows when he posted this thread tbh.
Think about it this way, none of the brown folk moved to the UK with the intention to fuck up English people.

I grew up in Bradford and I'm white, in a predominantly Asian area. I walked around Girlington, Manningham and Frizinghall regularly at all times of day and night (regular walked home between 1 and 4 am) and got mugged once. That's not to say I didn't get groups of kids shouting abuse at me, but a lot of the time an older Asian lad who was walking/driving past (who I didn't know) would stick up for me and tell them they were pricks "chip, do one". So I don't think it's as bad as it's made out to be, in that regard. The council ain't great, but you show me a perfect city council and i'll show you a work of fiction. It's a poor city, but there's a great community spirit in Bradford lurking beneath the surface and when it all comes together great things happen.

To be honest the UK has gone to shit because previous generations thought they were the best country in the world while standards of living fell out the sky with no immigrants to blame then. People are too arrogant to admit they let shit pile up on them because they're proud to be British so it must be the foreigners because British people are the best

west bowlings pretty grim though! my girlfriend at the time lived in west bowling and shed constantly get called a slut and other abuse from asian kids and even older teenagers. I went to St Bede's secondary school and we'd constantly get harassed by kids from Challenge College, which usually involved them standing in lister park and setting off fireworks at scool buses.

I do agree about the community spirit though, even though there can and often is a lot of conflict between different cultures, when everyone bands together (like following bradford in the cup run last year, everyone in the centre seemed to be walking around with a huge smile on their face!), Bradford can be an amazing place.

similar shit in the US i suppose, post world war 2 they enjoyed a lot of prosperity because the rest of the industrialized world was basically in shambles but a few decades later when the rest of the world got back up to speed, the americans seem to have completely forgotten what it takes to be competitive

and now you have the same shit from the republicans over here yelling about immigration and how thats the reason for unemployment because "obviously" american people are the greatest people in the world

As the title suggests what do you order from the takeaway even on road or from home

I had a thing for Special Fu Yung a while back but normally just get a medium hot curry with rice, chips, coupla samosas maybe, and poppadoms

I fail to see how setting up your own business( and employing workers of your own ethnictity/nationality exclusively btw) selling food is "integration".

Jaydot, you don't work so sit at home all day. You're not integrating. Fuck out of the country imo.

Door to door fundraising for charities was my last job, at uni now. Learning so that I can become a productive member of, and a credit to, the society I live in :t:
