yeah, this is the relevant article. that "mixer toolbar" link towards the end of the article also has important info. the problem is that when i plug in the USB from my TT, it disables the 'recording volume slider' (the one on the right in this pic) and defaults it at 100%, and if you hover the mouse over it, it says "Unavailable; use system mixer."



I guess that's what the article is referring to when it says:

"If the level of the input (recording) source is too high, you can try to lower the input level using the Mixer Toolbar, but if this doesn't work, you should try to lower the volume of the external input source (e.g., your microphone, cassette player, or record player)."

Obviously though, my TT has no volume fader.

I could definitely connect the TT to my traktor s4 and just record str8 out of there. Think that would result in a good quality recording?

Ah i have no experience with using the USB out on a TT.

Might as well try the S4 and see if it sounds good to you.

Check in audio settings in control panel to make sure that mic volume isn't boosted, if it is turn the boost off
