Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
IntheCrowd Man I honestly love every thing about this tune, I was just strolling through, happen to listen to it, and really wanted to tell you how wonderful it truly is. This is the kind of music I'm striving to make but I'm very new to it, so I'm having trouble. I've been a jazz musician for years and years but when dealing with keyboards and computers it's a whole different ball game. Everything about this tune works perfectly for me and I have absolutely not one piece of negative feedback that I could give you, sorry, it's really that perfect! But, you must do me one huge favor....PLEEEEEASE tell me how you got that sax? Did you just sample it out of another tune? Or is it a plugin of some sort, I make jazzy tunes too but I just can't find a good sax sound, please share with me your skills and knowledge! Thanks man, amazing music. I want to hear more.
Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
My apologies for posting before feedback, so I deleted my last post and here is my feedback.
@Rylee I love the when the bass kicks in at 0:16. Great dark feel. The violins remind me of the old Tim Burton Batman theme song. I really like the crowd riser around 0:58. Haven't heard that in a tune before. That said, I think it should either stop when the bass comes back or continue into the rest of the song instead of fading out. But I really like the uniqueness of incorporating a live sound into your piece. IMO maybe try a little dark ear candy in the intro (thunder or something...I'm just a sucker for stuff like that).
@RARR_ I like how you put the high hat in the spotlight. It gives it a great shuffle feel between kick/snare, especially when the wobble stops. You've got a good wobble going and its paired nicely with the snare. You might want to look into a secondary synth after the wobble cuts out every 4 bars (gives it a bluesy style but not essential).
@BenJonesLikeWhoa I haven't heard this sound before (synth rhythm followed by dirty dub) but I really like it. Makes for a really catchy tune and ups the anticipation as you keep changing dub synths. It also plays nicely when the second round comes in at 2:37 when you start mixing them together. The 3:07 dub is gnarly, I love it. Keep up the good work. Intro could speed up a little for my taste but then again it adds a good contra to the drop.
@Sinstepper Great tune. Feels like the wobble is dripping wet, super cool. Great use of different percussion too. The rim snare works very well.

@Crow Steppa I really like the vocals you used on this track, gives it an energetic feel especially the "Whoos" at 59 seconds. The snare in the beginning is killer and I like the alternating kicks in the rise. The combo of the mechanical loading synth sound with the super dark wobble works well. As odd as it is, my favorite part is where you switch up the tempo at 25 seconds. I wasn't expecting that.
@filtersnake This has a really nice futuristic sound to it. I'm torn with the very beginning. On one hand I like the swelling of a lot of synths, but the high synth seems to clash with the rhythmic ones and it drowns out the vocals. I really like the soft synth when the man starts talking. Dirty dirty dirty drop. Again, love the futuristic sound and here the subtle vocals work great. I think you can marry the intro and drop a little better.
@Electic_Head Intro pads are sick especially when the sub starts. The rattle percussion reminds me of a spray paint can/dice, either way gives it a street sound that I like. I really like the drawn out wobbles that start at 1:43. I love the reverbed percussion at 4:35, I like that you add on over time but a little teaser of these sounds earlier would be nice to wet the appetite.
Here's Mine.

@Veloreon - Love the bass sound during the buildup, nice drop too. Sounds like your kicks are getting a little lost maybe.
@difference - Love the downtempo feel and that sub is crazy low can almost feel it in the middle of my head.
@RARR - Yeah the kick doesnt seem to match the crispness of the rest of the drums, almost lo-fi sounding. Great feel to it though and the basses are sick!

How about thinking twice what ur reading before posting?Crow Steppa wrote:if everybody posted their songs wanting feedback, but didn't give feedback in the first place, this thread wouldn't make any sense. it's common sense, never mind the first post. how does anybody expect to get any feedback if nobody gives feedback in the first place?common sense, common courtesy.

I hate my girlfriends friends, come here 10 in the morning and start laughing loud so i cant sleep

@BenJonesLikeWhoa: those ?orchestral? melody things are great, sounds like some 80's tv-show

But i think u should lower those levels little bit to pop out kick and snare little bit, think those are bit silent, imo. But yea, nice work

@Sinestepper: Sounds like one of my acid trips

@RARRR_: Sounds nice, maybe some little variations would be nice imo. Kick sounds like giants walking, not bad, but maybe smaller kick every now and then would be nice, giving that variation. But i dont know, sounds great and the mixing is just about right.

@Crow Steppa: Why u even post ur WIP's here, just finish ur tracks and release

@Crow Steppa: You could've done something way cooler with that synth. How did you make it? From the very first note I thought you were going to do a Skrillex type thing. Oh wait, those chords just kicked in. Nevermind this is the sickest shit ever. WOW THE DROP IS AMAZING. Only thing bad is the bad intro, and the woody kick.
@Velereon: Pretty good, the bass is a bit too distorted sounding. The kick drum is a bit cheesy trance though. That's about it from me.
@Maza1: This would be cool if you just took out that distorted wobble that's in the very beginning and those yah's. That part where you go into full time (Kick snare kick snare) doesn't have enough energy. The background vocals and the wobbling sub could make a really good Skrillexy type song. It's tight. That piano thing doesn't fit in and is cheesy.
Here's my latest WIP. I think it's the best dubstep I've made so far:

Hi again!
@ChadDub;
Love the vocals. Not really a fan of the bass but it gives it some grime elements. Drums sound crisp.
@ Veloreon;
Nice intro build into a breakdown. Panning on the bass works perfectly.
Synths sound deep but not really a fan of those bleepy synthsounds but I guess that's just the style you're into.
@CrowSteppa;
Damn, that groove! Seriously bopping my head here haha. Snare should be higher in the mix tho.
Is this 140 bpm? Drums seem so odd. Layering your snare with another higher pitched snare could give it way more punch.
Nice track tho!
@ Maza1;
Needs a lot of EQ and compression on those synths. The mix is everywhere and has no coherent point tbh.
Try some serial compression on those synths. Just my two cents.
@ InTheCrowd;
Love those keys! Love those hats! Love those vocals!
Why is this not released yet? Nothing bad to say about it from my point of view. Brilliant work, perfect!
That being said: I've been working on this tune for quite some while and posted this in the finished song section, however I am never getting any feedback there so I'm asking here. (considering I don't really feel it as finished yet).
Would love some feedback on the initial mix (aren't the drums to quiet and the mainbass way to high?) and on the overall production.
Thank you!

First time working with a heavy sub layer, I think I'm doing a pretty decent job with the mixing - that's been my goal with this is to get everything to sit right. Treating this track as a learning experience. An issue I am running into though is that the sub makes my headphones rattle, but when I listen to a mastered track from a pro at the same volume their bass is very clear and doesn't make them rattle. Not sure what the deal with that is.

Alpz, you have to give feedback to at least three other people before you can ask for feedback on your track.
Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
Ah, my apologies - first time posting here, hadn't looked into the rules. I will do so when I have the opportunity, I do not at the moment.

@veloreon
Not really feeling the intro, the snare just feels like white noise , not much punch to it
the drop is nice, the kick needs to be more present
@Cubicle
love the wobbles man really nice I'm just not really feeling your vocal choice on this one
perks are also spot on and i think your kick is fine on my system
@Chad i like the movement you have on your bass man
to thicken it up id say slap some unison on it and it should be nice and phat!
My turn! Heres my new track I'm working on its 100 bpm. I'm aware the bass is horrifically repetitive but i just what you guyses opinion before continuing

ehbrums1 - the idea is good. If I were you I would work on the notes to start with, they dont go well with the background, on the other hand i cant really tell because the main synth you use has almost no pitch but only nose. as for rythm I would try to make it more diverse and glitchy if you know what I mean, like with a help of beat repeat or something. Otherways its does have grove in it so you might as well try to finish it ) good luck !
ChadDub - it gets much better then I expected ))) I have no suggestions for you sir, not even sure if you asked for feedback )
alpz - wow man, great sub , great mixing, love it, if only it were more diverse
Cubicle - its good, the structure is alright, but the mixing isnt so good, I would advise you installing izotope ozone or use any other spectrum analizer, in other words, work on your mixing. otherways its good in terms of rythm and composition.
RyLee - epic thing mate ) have no suggestions apart from sayng that you snare doesnt have enough low frequencies, in other words "not fat" ) but its a matter of one second. Keep up the epic work )))
here is the latest thing I did, it lacks something, I know for sure that my biggest problems apart from mixing are drops ) have no idea how to make a good drop and how to make a good intro, if anyone knows whre to get some decent advices on that its much apreciated.

@alexeyherman - Some really cool stuff you have here. Really cool beat, I dig it a lot!
@ehbrums1 - Fatten up that bassline a bit, it could really use it. The tracks gets boring really fast. Otherwise than that, good job.. I really like the drums.
@ChadDub - Really diggin the "synth" or whatever in the background, sounds really cool.
So here is a rather chill dubstep wip of mine. I haven't worked much more than an hour on it so far. I really like some feedback on the sub bass, whether it is too bassy or whatever.

@ Alexeyhermann - Sick song bud, made me want to start dancing in the airport. Maybe layer another dryer punchier snare with that great "live sounding" snare you already have. Give it some punch!
Pick up the vengeance packs if you have'nt already, great stuff in there to do buildups and whatnot.

@ ChadDub - I'm really digging the motion of your track, perhaps some additional hats following your second drop would help sustain the energy you seem to be going for a bit more.
@ Ehbrums1 - Your hats sound very flat, might try EQing them a bit differently, to crisp them up some.
@ Alexeyhermann - Very ill, I'm digging it - the snare break it pretty rad as well, unique track.
