How will the green party help stop climate change then?

tbf their policies are mostly well and good just massively unrealistic.

Also the fact they are against nuclear power is a massive disadvantage

actual cooperation when it comes to setting and agreeing to global limits on co2 emissions
something that neither labour nor the coalition have done
and as for ukip the less said the better

Their intentions are for sure in the right place, i don't think they would be able to follow up on their promises though. It's quite one thing to say they will cooperate with other nations to reduce CO2 emissions, actually achieving that is a completely different story which would surely rely on all the other nations with presumably a much larger carbon footprint than ours. As for them thinking they would have any control over Europe's fossil fuel use, big lol.

Second bullet point, fair play a good but rather obvious idea.

Third bullet point; err ok fair enough, would appeal to the paranoid hippy types i feel make up the large number of their members though. Would be good to know some specifics.

Fourth bullet point, here is where they lose any credibility. No factory farming, ok where will our food come from? I am sure factory farms have a much smaller carbon footprint than normal farms anyway. They talk about avoiding disaster for our children; it would be nice if we could still feed them. No animal testing, oh boy, ok so are we happy to stop using all the medication that have been developed using animals? What about your grandma whose beta-blockers keep her alive, is that not worth hurting a few animals? What about the chemotherapy keeping your wife alive? i suppose we could do without that.

Also a full conversion to nuclear power would be possible in less than 10 years and would pretty much entirely rule out fossil fuels. Nuclear power will inevitably become our sole power source not much point delaying the inevitable. In this respect i much prefer UKIPs approach to energy as afaik they are the only party in full support of nuclear power.

Also lol at how everyone is celebrating the green party having more members than UKIP i thought UKIP were a tiny party who only a small minority of Brits agreed with? Why is being only slightly bigger than them a triumph?

firstly UKIP as a party are climate sceptics - they dont think its happening

EU is actually the best region for GHG mitigation probably due to its wealth. UK is laggin behind
The whole reason why nations arent cooperating is cos 'China isnt mitigating, so were not going to' its a global problem so everyone needs to be a team player. at least we cant be accused of not being that team player

First step would be conversion from coal power to gas power (tempory - reduce emissions by a half)
Increase emissions taxes for vehicles etc.
increase regulations for emissions and efficiency requirements (cba to go through but you can imagine)
then on to

3rd point is really important - fracking for example
thats not just scared hippies that worry about that
short term corporate interests. not sure whats hippy about that

i dont actually agree with an end to animal testing for medicinal purposes. and with factory farming not the complete removal per se but strict regulation is needed to ensure an improvement in conditions for those poor chickens

factory farming is damaging to the environment in more way than just the carbon footprint like leaving the land barren. altho that's applicable to normal farms, the process is much faster in factory farms

cos they have a huge amount of young supporters compared to ukip and ld
probably most of your mates

Didn't say i agree with UKIPs climate policy i said i agree with their support of nuclear power. What do you think of nuclear power? Nuclear power is a huge corporate interest why not allow those corporations to buy into that keeping them happy and saving the enviroment at the same time?

Tbh being against animal testing for medicine overrules any other policy they may have for me. Whats the point in having a 'green' planet if we only live till 30.

Seems like there would be a hell of a lot more taxes and increases in energy prices if the green party ever were in power (lol).

A lot of naive, falsely optimistic supporters? Yes.

And yes, unfortunately so.

If you did enough here to actually make a significant difference, companies would just move production abroad..

And for energy, the extra costs would just be passed on to customers..

good lol

as for companies moving away
wed replace them with our own nationalised green sector
if it means a decrease in GDP fuck it who cares
as long as living conditions go up

Would the money for this nationalised 'green sector' come out of our taxes?

Your average voter doesn't equate global warming to living conditions though

Probably one of the reasons why ukip are popular. What does that say about your average voter.

As for where does the money come from

How about taxes for the rich that actually work and aren't circumvented
Getting rid of trident

There's a start

As for companies leaving the uk that's a load of bollocks
A massive company is t going to just ignore a consumer base of 60 million ppl

nationalisation of industry is kinda pointless in a democracy, unless you can somehow make sure the next guys won't fuck everything up
