That they want to be able to put food on the table and live a reasonably comfortable life, not just about scrape by and have to pay ridiculous taxes they see no immediate benefit from.

Why would you think that?
The reverse is much more likely.
Also have to remind you of what happened in japan when you're that non-critical of nukelol power tbh !!

Edit: also just came across this
Every time I eat a bag of potato chips I think of Fukushima. This 12-ounce bag of chips has 3500 picoCuries of gamma radiation in it, and the number of bags I eat a year gives me a dose as high as what I would receive living in much of the evacuated zones around Fukushima.

mason666 wrote:How will the green party help stop climate change then?
First up we had to get to the point where parties would accept that there was a problem. We're there now tbf.
But and this might sound retarded, the ideas or concepts that are central to how we have to deal with it, is completely different from party to party. Lots of sweeping stuff under a rug etc..
I reckon the left will argue that climate change is now a constant and that the right would argue that we just have to react once and finance a wall or a rocket out of here and maybe have a dresscode/invite list.
So my point, which doesn't immediately address your point, ends up somewhere else and that is that all the progressive and responsible thoughts in dealing with this situation, comes from people that would vote green and the answer would be that they'd use science. I know how arrogant it sounds

They are fundamentally against science though.
The Green Party built its reputation on progressive social policies, but we were surprised by its anti-science stance. It told us that the party is proposing an EU-wide ban on research involving embryonic stem cells, citing the vague possibility of "unforeseen outcomes harmful both to individuals and to society".
As for GM food, the party seeks to ban the importation of any genetically modified organisms into the EU, apparently uninterested in seeing if research produces evidence of benefits contrary to their beliefs, and unaware of the disastrous consequences this would have on British science.
One scientist working with science communication group Evidence Matters, said: "Sharing resources is at the heart of scientific collaborations and by preventing this the Green Party could potentially irreparably harm the collaborative opportunities open to UK and EU scientists. [Its] position betrays a fundamental lack of awareness of the details of modern biological research and displays no understanding of the importance of sharing resources between scientists across countries and continents."

the possitive and necessary aspects of gmos where misinterpreted to begin with aswell (at least within the german green party at the time), but you forget the important democratic bit, that they are among very few that actually pose critical questions!
one example is the corn crop that is designed not to last longer than a season or whatever that was.... that's dangerous and monopolistic to the detriment of any society
but then there's the treated rice crop that will grow in bad conditions that saved a billion people or what it was
so there's positives and there's negatives aspects, but someone has to question the hegemonious and monopolistic control measures

Yes we have to question them, not ban them outright.

I think the stance taking by the guardian journo in that article is a bit quick and off the cuff to me and more about talking a specific point up to confused voters
(not that I disagree it isn't a worthy point in another discussion - but it serves the point of blame more than anything, in a situation where science is only now getting heard)
it smells populist and too convenient

Studying the use of fugue in compositions from the early 19th century can get boring.
It's not the infinite source of intricacy I was hoping it would be.

Pretty interesting how the Oil price has dropped through the floor and that was going to be what an independent Scotland would use to sustain itself. So now they are in the shit and the debt gets "shared" with the rest of the Uk haha
