Although speaking of bullshit blogs this guy put one of my tracks on his and it got 180 plays today

It does require some kind of talent to make connections and gain power. I certainly couldn't do it. Does that mean they rightfully possess their power or that they've done anything creatively talented? No. It's just like with any other type of 'institution', if u can call it that. Popular ppl who know how to play the game acquire more power than they deserve, when really the creators should have the power. But the creators are typically not power-driven or power-minded ppl, so they kinda get fucked in the end.

...at least what i've observed. in music or not in music.

got nowt against radio rips, ive heard some sick tunes on that LibraryUk channel and they are always on point with the quick uploads. and it gives me ideas for good mixes to listen to. i mean there is some (lots of) bait tech house swemp84 shit but every now and again i see a name i recognise (Lakosa / Rick Grant / Caski) and appreciate hearing the new choonz

nobody's complaining about people uploading radio rips. It's uploading radio rips, having a blog etc then acting like you're an integral part of a scene despite really contributing less than someone who just buys the records.

What dubunked said about people being good at social politics makes sense in that context though.

TBF maybe Aliazism specifically aren't that arrogant, haven't met them.

Before you start doing anything musically, should ask yourself, am I doing something that people can't do themselves? If it's starting a "label" and all you're doing is taking someone's mp3s and putting up a download link, can't the artist just do it themselves? If you're starting a "blog" and just posting youtube videos, can't I just go on youtube myself and do it?

tbf i do post utnes on a 'blog' and i do have a youtube 'channel' but its not rips its just loads of free downloads 4 everyone

yeah but it's hard to get known without being bait tbh. and since there's so many peeps with blogs and shit out there, it's hard to actually stand out. you could be all professional with well written articles or you could document twitter beef

hardly pay attention to music blogs or yt channels these days tbh. i don't care about hearing the newest untitled dub from y producer x dj is playing. i'll care when it gets released

as for music journalism, i got a fucking love/hate thing with it. cause well written pieces are a rarity amongst a sea of hype, endless reposts of press releases and boring interviews. some articles and interviews i read recently actually made me want to not listen to things ffs.
and am i the only one thinking reviews are becoming more and more pointless? i mean, with yt rips, previews on sc and shops etc. what can you possibly add to it other than some references to shit it reminds you of/sounds like and say you rate it? no surprise that some blogs just repost stuff cause people can listen to it themselves.
