kievccs wrote:Hi! Well, i haven't wrote anything in dubstepforum since like 2010 when i used to producer Dubstep, so this is kinda my first post ever as another alias.
My name is Daniel from Caracas, Venezuela, and i used to make music under the name Kiev, i've had some releases in both physical and Digital releases in a few labels such as Aquatic Lab, Disquiet Mind, Senseless Records, Dank N Dirty Dubz, Lu10 Records and a few others.
I thought it was time to make other types of music so i ended up making music as Dahni to focus mainly on House and Techno stuff.
So i'm gonna leave this right here for you guys in case you wanna listen. All feedback is appreciated. I'm also up for giving any feedback so hit me up if you wanna share something with me!

I really like the chords on this one! Sounds great, but the sub bass is a bit low. Might just be my room, but I don't really hear much in the lower registers.

skramz wrote:Hello everyone. I've been lurking for a very good while (had another account but didn't like the username anymore!), this will be my first post. To shortly introduce myself, I come from a lineage of DJs. My grandfather spinned in the age of disco, and my father is a known name in the canadian techno scene. I'm now learning the craft myself, been at it for 2 or 3 years, and I'm starting to feel comfortable with putting my stuff out there. I'm a very proactive user on soundcloud, so hit me up.
Here's a track I did, French House/Nu Disco. Tell me what's up with it, I'll be going through this thread and listening to stuff.

Cool stuff. i like your sample material! I would personally say your snare needs more of a transient or thwack. It seems a little soft. Also some more things like snare rolls/fills to flesh it out as the beat feels a bit empty, even for Nu Disco. Maybe an open/closed hat combo at the end of each 4 bars would give it some movement?

So I just left some feedback, and was wondering if anyone could give me some on this-
Soundcloud
I was inspired to make this after hearing some old dark DnB tapesI had found in a shoebox. I think I've captured 'that sound' in a house music style. Its also a free/donate what you want track (follow the link in the description) So if you would like it, its here, or drop me some beer tokens, would be appreciated!

Not going to lie, it sounds nothing like 'that sound' to me brother lol, sounds like what I been hearing in the clubs for the last few years
Far too clean, produced and 'wide' to really have that old school flavour.
Personal opinion: highly produced as your stuff always is and for what it is it's what you'd expect, but as a track it's not really got much wow-factor for me... But I can't listen to anything unless it's drowning in ecstatic tears of emotion.

Your first track wasn't my bag so I didn't give it a chance past the first 30 seconds if I'm honest, not out of spite I just don't feel I have a right to give feedback on music I don't dig.
The second track on the other half.... Very much my thing.
Overall very impressed. Lovely little melody, great vocal work. Like the way you're incorporating bitcrushing into your overall 'style' that's very cool. Critical feedback I might give is that the bitcrushing is maybe just a little bit
too apparent. I would have preferred if you went down a more commercial route, made everything a bit fatter and present, widened the stereo spread where you could and given that lower end more boom and tightness.
Should you make anything else like this closer in line with my above feedback and it's not riddled with identifiable samples (like this one wasn't) feel free to drop it into
info@b-demrecords.com for release consideration

Sounds technically right for what it is. Production sounds good. I know the style generally goes this way but it's very repetitive. The track would only get 30 seconds top in most mixes if it made it into one. Not to say change this track but for future consideration you might want to give it more of a progression into something more memorable.

Dude deffo feeling that! Only gripe I would have would be that I would have preferred more of the vocal in the main body of the track. If you could have a play with that feel free to submit it to BDEM

I do hehe

Nice track man! Only constructive crit I would give is that the breakdown around 2.30 is a bit plain, the synth notes you've got going on there aren't very exciting. But it's a tiny issue, overall really enjoyed!
