I think we basically need early skream, benga, dmz guys, pinch, kode9, skull disco stuff? All that jazz. I wouldnt have thought much from the early 00's, garage -> dubstep stuff. Thats more roots of dubstep no?
That kind of mix would fit nicely in the first post, maybe you could do a new one and put it up? I certainly wouldnt mind. Nicer to listen to then separated youtube links as well (not saying people shouldnt use em ofc).

He really has more or less reinvented himself, i cant really recommend anything that sounds to similar. Ill plug some of my homeboys just to sortof match the melodic content provided. These guys are about to blow up bigtime: http://soundcloud.com/flashoddysee

Both talented, one of them can play any instrument you throw at him, its jazz inside proper dubstep.

Hot thread! But it's really difficult to define dubstep these days. It's more like music revolving around the power of bass.

I can't tell if this thread is meant to be productive and educational or an outlet for genre fascism. People value music differently and there is nothing self evident about the redeeming qualities of booming sub bass at 140 bpm.

just throwing it out there that Dubstep Originates from 2-step garage and Dub. Of course the majority whose been into Dubstep for a long time would already know this. On my part, I just learned so not too long ago :a:

So simply, if you're having trouble realizing what your song should go under, or if you can call it Dubstep, honestly though who cares as long as it sounds good. Refer to Dub and 2-Step Garage songs. See if your song matches up with similarities in pieces.

May I also remind you bro-step is technically a sub genre of Dubstep. But got classified as Dubstep.

And may I also throw out there that there is a difference between mainstream (Well produced sounding music but using super-similar synths and good creative music (underground/Community wise etc. etc. etc.). But that's my opinion. Personally I actually enjoy ALL genres from trance to deep dub to brostep, I know right the F is wrong with me not having a sense of direction :D

And thus my half rant-half off uninteresting post is done being written. :h:

Man you word it so well! My stance on it is you gotta realize the potential for progession of a genre and how people can exploit it. Not saying the current state of mainstream dubstep is the way it should be but "Real Dubstep" is kinda made for underground cause not alot of people are gonna understand it cause of its slow pace and has a emphasis on sub bass.

Nothing wrong with anyone hating the current state of Dubstep but i think everyone needs to realize that the true dubstep isn't gonna raise to the popular ranks unless its super energetic, at times annoying, and crazy to people!

Slow pace?

Anyway, what you said is true, but irrelevant. This is a thread where people have said what they think dubstep is. It's fulfilled its purpose. The tunes in here ARE dubstep.
