Feels good finally getting my FL & samples reorganised, can spend an hour making a beat instead of searching for listenable kicks & snares
What's what turned me off fl was the sample menu on the side, if your samples aren't perfectly organized it can a pain
Not sure what you mean there mate? Actually thinking about it i barely touch the collapsible menu on the far left, except to drag synths/vsts into the step sequencer

With drum samples i just use the FPC + save a preset kit whenever i find something that works. Saves from constant folder hunting later on.

With other samples i mainly drag + drop from explorer unless i can specifically think of an effect i want to use a VST sampler for.
I hated on that thing on the left, the browser, for a long time. I finally started working with it... SO SO SO much better. Create a folder in your on your comp for all your samples, and set that folder as a user folder in FL, you can audition samples so fast, and drag and drop them into your projects. I know it is a ball ache to switch, but honestly, start using that browser. It really is a powerful feature, and one of the reasons fl beats on all the other daws. 4realz.

Got an idea to make a drum and bass song today! I was watching tv and dont laugh but power puff girls was on and hearing the intro i heard a drum loop. Had very jungle and Dnb sort of groove. So i went digging around and found out the composers sampled it from and old jazz/funky song. Messed around more and got the song and found a perfect loop after an hour of searching and messing with tempos. Now i have great drum and bass break loop for a new song. Pretty stoked now :corndance:, i should try do the song around the power puff girl series since a reaped version is coming out again, seems like a good idea tbh.

Found this when i was searching around about the intro, pretty cool finding pieces of music that have samples in them and where they originated from.

If anyone wants the drum loop for a tune just ask :W:

Well fuck.... It sounded familiar but then again a lot of breaks all sound the same anyways. There goes that idea, thought I found a pretty good sample out of the blue but I guess not.

Wait, wut? I think I'm loosing my edge. I don't know who is trolling anymore.

R3b, you thought you found a good sample, but then have since learned that everybody has used it at least once, and now it is not a good sample and you aren't going to use it?

Everybody has had sex, to bad you're going to have to skip it, yeah?

I genuinely thought I found a good and orginal sample, havent herd anything similar to it from some of the stuff I've listened to recently.

It's not that I'm not going to use it, it's clean sample and loop so why throw it away? I won't play the sample as is and in the same tempo like I orginaly was planning on doing. I'll probably cut it up and pitch it to play in something else instead.

I often listen to tracks, tv shows and movies for something to sample and I just recently herd the loop in the power puff girls and thought it was pretty cool and tried to sample it without knowingly it was used quite a bit in other songs.

My bad m8s for trying to sample something and being excited about getting a nice drum break from scratch.
